Airlines Offering Mix of Long Haul/Short Haul
First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong thread.
How many airlines are there out there that offer pilots the chance of flying a mixture of short-haul and long-haul on the same type. I only know of Monarch on the A320/A321/A330, albeit with a limited long-haul route network, and BA with the B767, although I don't know if this will be continued with the B787. Do some of the other charter airlines (TOM, TCX) offer the common type rating on the 757/767? The chance to mix long haul trips with a few day trips and time at home would surely be a brilliant lifestyle for any pilot, but there are understandably very few airline sin a position to offer such a role. |
Condor crew operate both the B757 & B767 resulting in a decent mix of short and long haul flying.

Many TCX Boeing crew at MAN fly the 757 and 767, but there's very little long haul on the 767 at the moment (although this could change this Winter).
A large number of TCX Airbus crew at MAN and LGW fly mixed fleet on the A320/1 and A330, however long haul is now much reduced with 3 x A330s about to leave the fleet, and so it's possible that the number of mixed fleet crew will be reduced as a result. Although the mixed fleet lifestyle suits many, with a pilot surplus and a rapidly contracting long haul program I would say future prospects for new joiners being able to opt for this are pretty minimal. |
bmi have mixed fleet flying A320/321/330 across short, mid and long haul.

Yeah, but for how much longer.... |
Former LTU, presently Air Berlin has MFF on the A319/320/321 and A330-300 and A330-200. Personally I would rather fly A330 and skip the MFF. After AB took over, the A320 makes the schedule a night mare. Minimum rest on the 330 filled with an occasional 320 flight make it hard. The good thing, as an SFO relief pilot you only fly the 320 ones a month. You just have to accept the dumb comments for a possible early flare from an experienced A320 non MFF captain.
