I live here in Dubai and this news has been plastered all over the news as of this morning.

Requirements:

FO 2500 hrs 1000 of which multi crew multi engine with EFIS and more than 10 tonnes operating weight.

Captains 5k hrs 1500 in command of multi crew multi engine of 55 tonnes operating weight

Be cautious of working for any company that uses the words "aggressive" and "recruitment" in the same sentence, they do not mix well.

Here that's Interviews, jobs&sponsorship for that "elusive first job".
Even if it could appear like good news, it's a bit out of topic, I don't think many wannabes will be particularly pleased to see this job offer which in no aspect concerns them.

About that: look at the requirement, and you will soon understand this job offer target are people already flying airliners.

Most of the successful expat candidates in middle east/ Asia... are either experienced pilot or pilot already having a job.

Expats sometimes come back to Europe/North america, and some european/american sometimes and for different reasons leaves their job to join those emerging market. There is some movement, but totally and globally not much pilot position has been created since 2007. It looks more like a hiring dance between the old and new economies.

Wannabes can close their computer, stop dreaming and get their normal life back, nothing new is happening, the emerging market has hired experienced pilot for a very long time now, and the problem remains the same: how to become an experienced pilot?


Anyway, this is a Wannabe forum here, and all what we can find are job offers for very experienced pilot of pilot-"astronaut" for Virgin Galactic, that's a bit sad.

FlyDubai has to take a number of 737-800's yearly so odds are good that even non-type rated pilots will get a chance. Positive attitude.

I actually second what KAG says. It is great to see that they want to employ NON cadets for a change. It's about time pilots with some experience were given a shot. :D

Nsxtasy (hope you don't use this drug, seriously) and my negative attitude: it happens I am myself an expat, and I fly B737 NG. So don't speak about MY negative attitude please, everything is fine for me and personnaly it gives me one more opportunity to change job if it was needed (Dubai was hiring before, this news is not a real one by the way, nothing has changed).
Thing is this thread was in the wannabes part of pprune, wannabe means not experienced. Nothing to do with this pilot add.

Bond - pilots already rated on our aircraft will be subject to a non-contributory training bond of USD 24,000 which will depreciate in equal amounts over a period of 36 months, and non-rated pilots will be subject to a non-contributory training bond of USD 36,000 depreciating in equal amounts over a period of 36 months.

$24K if you are already rated......the heat must be getting to them.

Well a bond is just a piece of paper! sign it! When you have enough just go and tell them to shovel it where you think! ;)

how are the pay and other benefits compared to EK?

EK provides accommodation or pays a certain amount to find your own accommodation. Does FlyDubai also take care of accommodation?

Spoke to a colleague earlier this week who actually flew for Flydubai back when they only had 30-something pilots and 3 aircraft.

I know him as a reputable chap so I'm going to take his advice and stay well away from this outfit.

FlyDubai is NO Emirates!!

It's got it fare share of problems, roster isn't great, no logic to it, mix of night and day duties, some extremely long days DAC etc.

A bond for rated pilots and 4 different payscales!! This is the biggest bone of contention!! We were told by the chief pilot that everyone was to get a pay increase and that is not what happened, so you can make of his word what you want!!

You get a transport allowance and accommodation allowance, do with it what you will!! No pension and no profit share, as of EK's last profit share an Emirates FO is earning the same money as a new entry FlyDubai Capt!!

If you have the requirements for Emirates go there, it too has it's problems but at least your pocket will be a lot fatter!!

Good point's, new machine that are well kitted out and if you're coming from Europe Dubai is less expensive and not a bad town to live in, some people will disagree.

Do your homework before you commit to coming down, look at the middle east forum.

You mention an accommodation allowance, but on the FlyDubai web-site, no mention is made of this.

Do you know how much it is ?

Is there any initial re-settlement allowance to get you started ?
