Aer Arann exodus....has started
 
Thıs week alone 10 flıght crew handed ın notice the exodus has started, could see this happening as crews sick of pay freezes and wage cuts and broken promises................:sad:

Yup Southampton base closing again, after some crews being moved down just 2 weeks ago. Err sorry we are closing the base and you have to move at your own expense.....again!

Nice one Eastern I'm glad you care so much for your crew who really do work hard for you with such little pay.

They can't aford to lose 10 guys/girls!! I heard a lot were failing the interview at Lingus? On the other hand I hope they do their homework on Qatar!!

That’s very interesting, replacing the F/Os should be quite straight forward, I’m sure that there are plenty of low hours people who have financed their own rating through Aer Arann waiting in the wings who would jump at the opportunity of a full time job. However replacing the Captains will be a different matter, especially if Aer Arann do not have sufficient senior F/Os who are ready for upgrade. If some of those leaving Captains are TRE/TRI/LTC qualified there will be huge problems getting any new hires on the line.
What about the future at Arann?

1. Aircraft sat on the ground without sufficient crews to operate them safely- financially costly and awful PR with dispossessed passengers drifting around.
2. Dragging in short term contractors-financially costly but no bad PR.
3. Force the remaining pilots to endure short notice roster changes and a lot of nausea – cost neutral but will increase retention problems and make the situation worse.
4. Wrap in the operation and switch off the lights.

None of them seem very palatable but there are some very serious decisions to be made.

Good luck to those that are moving on to pastures new and equally good luck to those that are left behind to cope with the fall out.

I think this info is a bit old!! The guys left for Flydubai over a year ago!! 1 guy went to Qatar a few months ago.

for flydubai, applicants must have at least 500 hours on B737NG. I dont think aer arann guys fill those requirements, or maybe they can apply as cabin crew member :}

Fact these guys are leaving if the details of where there going is incorrect the correct part of the post is that 9- 10 guys jacking and heading to new jobs.......also the cabin crew suitation is so thin that if one goes sick flights been cancelled and this is even with 2 scotair wet lease aircraft flying routes for arran so trouble ahead........think the word management comes to mind made a mess of the examinership and no real investment made in the company, hanging onto shamrocks tails as a regional, with the Goverment about to off load its shares in Aer lingus, Aer Arann might not feature in the new plans of the national carrier.........where then???:sad::sad::sad::sad:

@propburner, I'm not sure your so-called 'facts' are correct

Although there have been many resignations from Aer Arann, these have not all been in the last week. On the contrary, half of those you mention resigned over the last few months, which rather reduces the drama of your statement.

Next time, check your sources.

Look when the information is comming from the coal face I can only relay what the crew who are leaving are telling me, and thats right they would have to give a month's notice................so this would be out there over the last couple of weeks, Fact it is 9-10 guys jacking and if it was over the last month there still leaving so 5 captains and 4 f/o still does not get away from the FACT that these crews won't be around flying for this badly run Airline, but making more money with better flying rosters and better conditions with other airlines, so my sources are correct lesser weevil maybe your are wrong..................:cool:

You are right about the flydubai requirements and you may actually be surprised that there are quite a few Aer Arann people with that level of Jet experience. Many have flown for Aer Arann as a lifestyle choice in order to be based in Ireland etc.

To be my knowledge I know of about 10 people that are leaving and there are a few more set to leave just awaiting either start dates or final screening for various places.

I think this is going to be just the tip of the iceberg. Anyone with even a sniff of a job elsewhere will leave and why shouldn't they?

Most crews are treated with complete indifference and disrespect from management.

There is no pay structure at all in place. It is truely ridiculous where a year 4 Captain will take home around 600 euros more per month than a fresh out of line training frozen ATPL 250 hour guy / girl. There is no incremental pay structure at all. Multiple pay freezes and pay cuts with management constantly running from one crises to the next in order to justify sub par crewing levels and awful pay and ridiculous rostering practices.

The examiner process was a complete joke, they received only a small percentage of the money they needed and in doing so now have to run unprofitable flights to Southend from Galway to Waterford instead of Luton. They often run these long 2 hour flights on ancient ATR42s with tacky cabin interiors, hardly any catering onboard at times and various items such as synchrophasers inop which makes for a very long and noisy flight to the East Coast of Britain.

I think this recent exodus is just the beginning and with the market for jobs slowly beginning to pick up, many will vote with their feet. It is a shame really because Aer Arann used to be a great place to work a few years back. There are some great pilots in Aer Arann but sadly they will move on as soon as they can.

Well said Jack Russell, my point too the place is a complete joke at the moment I think the management sit in there santry office and dont know whats going on 10 mins up the road at the airport,they live in a world of there own down there......crew can only put up wıth so much and the amount of lies which is spouted at these CEO visits is a joke, the whole lot of them should have walked and real airline people run whats left of this once decent regional airline. I agree some of the pilots are the best around and hence been snapped up by other airlines because of this. I would say worring times ahead for Aer ARANN but I fell sorry for the ones left to work in these conditions......:(:(

Because the company survives on a day to day basis, the reason the management have been able to enforce these disgraceful working conditions and pay is because the workforce know any attempt at a strike(even a day) could cost everyone their jobs, a sort of mutually assured destruction! Nothing will change so hats off to the ones lucky to move on, The only thing preventing a total walkout is the difficulty getting from a turboprop to a jet without paying for a rating, If Ryanair ever started to bond guys Arann would be in serious trouble in a matter of days

Shamefull way to run a business its the flight crew and cabin crew and the Engineers who work in this company I feel sorry for as they put the effort in day in day out and there wages have been frozen first of all then a pay cut and because they have no pay scale I would say most over the past 3 years have lost out on about 6k to 8k if they had of been on there origional pay scale. Every year which passes they lose more, shamefull really shamefull. Yet the management get the big wages and hide away behind there desks knowing that morale is at a all time low within the company but knowing that the employees will keep working these conditions because they cant strike. But I see a change in employees thinking and there in for a real shock one of these days......................watch this space:*:*:*:*:*

2 guys went to Flydubai and they where 737 rated and that was nearly 2 years agoand Flydubai only accepting people with minimum of 500 hours on type, believe Qatar are excepting people with turboprop command time i think, where are the rest of the guys going ?? Best of luck to them, right decision to make :D
