Pro's and Con's of Being junior on Reserve
 

Hey, in your experience, as a junior pilot, what are the pro's and con's of being on reserve for your airline? Does it enhance or reduce the quality of life?

Seniority has no impact in our airline. I know I have often felt hard done by and picked on but when you step back with a clear head then generally there isn't anything personal in getting caught in our outfit. What would be more relevant is:-

- how close you live to the airport and how stuck they are for someone
- hours in last 28 days (both you and the other reserves)
- will be duty that they may have put you out of hours for tomorrow and the consequential knock on effect that this may have
- who owes who a "favour" ie: has some f*ckwit been doing side deals with screw control so that they are effectively on a day off during their reserve period
