Staff Travel Benefits for Unmarried/Unattached Employees

My previous and present employers have had reasonable staff travel schemes, with benefits extending to spouse, children and co-habiting and/or long-term partners. In fact, there was one chap who used the scheme to send the soon-to-be-ex-wife off on holiday with the children and take the new girlfriend somewhere nice. However, as an unmarried, unattached employee, I only get tickets for myself. Until/if I become re-attached long-term, the occasional cheap ticket for a parent or sibling would be welcome. What's the situation in other airlines and has anyone else raised this issue?

Pretty much nil.

My partner and kids don't get any free or discounted tickets.
But then again, neither do I.

I actually count that as a benefit - the only time I fly with my airline is when I'm on the flightdeck.

Staff travel

Will the answer to the question determine whether you apply for a job to that airline or are you just trying to float a boat?

hautemude,

In the current economic climate, I'm happy to have a good job with a good company and I don't even consider staff travel benefits in the equation. It was a comment from senior management to the effect that "employees with children will be given priority on requests for leave during school holiday periods" that reminded me that employees who are married/attached/parents receive more benefits than I do. In passing, it occurs to me that I feel a bit of prejudice. Incidentally, I'm happy to avoid school holiday periods.
