Paid by the hours

Here's Q.
I'm applying for a DEC/FO job with a cargo company in Germay which is flying medium and longue whole. Min flying hours are guaranted 70 hours min, per diem is €40 and the schedule is 20/10.
The Question is : without over estimating myself, do I put myself out of the market :ugh:by asking a € 75 per hour if I start of as a FO? Experience 4000 hours PIC heavy jets

What is a longue whole? Hehe ;)

If you need a job and if you are serious about working for a specific carrier, then you would research this information first hand by contacting HR, or by going to the airport(s) from where this carrier operates and approach a crew member. How do you expect to get feedback about an anonymous "medium/long-haul" carrier which you decline to identify?

Is that for a virtual airline? :E

Virtual Enemy??

Look at the plattform Puck2 is on: Military... till thinking in the "Cold War" mentality. Do not talk, do not tell, do not think. So by talking about the Airline and by identify anything else it can be used by someone else here in the forum and getting the job. Is that the virtual Enemy ?

To be frank: Airlines offering a certain amount and that is 40.-- € per diem. Enough for one day to feed you at McDonalds and Burger King. That is the way the Industry is going. Most Aviators pay stagnated the last few years and did not get raised to compensate for inflation and devaluation of the currency.

Most Beancounters get away with it as some Pilots are paying for flying. They accept any condition to get expirience and hope for the big bucks later... too late they are not coming anymore. In most cases you have seen the best time in the past. Look at the Forums in here and see that too expirienced F/O´s got nowhere as they are too expensive for certain companies. They paid a high price to get 3000 or 4000 hrs and now ? Out of recency, 3 Type Ratings and no Job.

Quo vadis Aviation is a matter of time. I do not want to be negative, just critical at the time. Remember Galileo Galilei ? He was ahead of the time.... and paid with his life.

B737NG -although I agree with your opinion on current T & Cs, check your facts. Galileo Galilei did not "pay with his life" - although he was tried by the Inquisition. He actually died of old age. See: Galileo Galilei - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Also, while a great scientist, he was expanding on work done before him by Mikolaj Kopernik.

Sorry for thread creep!

Cheers

Is that gross or net?

Either way - anywhere east of the Oder that is a very good wage. And Germany does have a border on the Oder.

Wasn´t Galieo Galilei banned from walking as a free Man? I think he was under house arrest, just a question to complete my rusty knowledge! The meaning was he paid with his free life.

He just came into my mind when I was writing the answer and I rememberd a discussion with a Friend about a Restaurant in Roma, close to Piazza di Fiorino where a Sculptcure of Galileo Galilei is displayed. Sometimes my brain runs faster ahead then my fingers are able to follow when I type......

But neverthereless I also see the point of East is cheaper.... So we have to either take it or sit all on our butt that the metal does not move for a few days. Utopic and illusoric dream / nightmare: All Pilots would be united like Brothers in the Sky and correct the long overdue payscheme.

Alot of people who work from Monday to Friday, from 9 to 5 get with less effort and qualification lasting forever a much higher pay then Aviators. Many years back some Pilots pay got compared with Air Traffic Controlers, they where much lower at the time back. The last decade they fortunatly picked up and many Pilots stagnated. Time for moving the scale up again.
