Flybe Direct Entry FO

Never used these forums as yet but since I don't know much about aviation in europe this seems the best place to ask. I am wondering what flybe's requirements are for Direct entry FOs on the Q400. I have about 1000 on type and 1900 total. My wife is from the uk and she would like to move back there so I'm putting it out there to see what the chances are for work. I will obviously have to convert my ATP to JAA.

Any help would be great.

I dont work for Flybe but was one of there cadets...I believe they have around 30 cadets waiting for TR courses, and more finishing training this year, so dont think they will be hiring F/O's soon. But keep an eye on their website.

Also concider it will take you about a year to convert your ATPL. I would get started on the theory via distant learning, Bristol , Cabair , London Met

ATP to ATPL

It can take much less than a year - just get written exams out of the way - you can do revision courses with the likes of Bristol Ground School. Pass the ATPL exams, then go to CAA and give them your VISA card, licence and logbooks to get CPL issued or take MPA type rating and get ATPL issued. You can get the MCC for free because you ahve over 500h Multi Crew type experience.

Speedy,

if you're in the States, I'd recommend checking out Naples Air Center in FL. Don't know anything good/bad about them, other that you can do all your writtens through them, and on top of that in the States.

If anything, it is convenient as hell.

It's a pity that you are not available right now if your indicated Antarctic residence is based on your flying experience - plenty of snow and ice at several airports used by Flybe.:ok:

Good luck with the hunt

PTC in Melbourne in Florida is also a place you can do the ATPL's and sit them there. This is also the school that trains some of the Flybe Cadets. Good luck

Once you have converted to JAA I suggest that you contact Flybe direct, with your hours and experience on type you should be in with a good shot.

There are currently new joiner FOs finishing line training and a few FOs will be joining to cover gaps in the Channel Islands. Low levels of recruitment may continue through 2010 to cover current and future projects requiring Flybe pilots.

Speedy,

Right now there is no direct entry FO recruitment to Flybe to my knowledge. My understanding is that there's a stream of Jerez sponsored guys that are meeting current recruitment needs, there's also some non Jerez guys waiting. That would probably cover 2010 recruitment in the current climate.

Who knows tho - in the time it takes to convert your FAA (12 months min really) things may change.

Heard faint whispers that possible recruitment at the end of Feb, anyone in the know - know? Also, what is the possiblity of direct entry command if your previous company recommends you? (not type rated of course) :)

In a word (or 2) - no chance. Unless of course there is a space at one of the more far reaching bases like Inverness and nobody has bid to go there. Very unlikely though as there's a myriad of F/Os waiting for commands. Also a myriad who are on a Command Development Program.

CRX 20th Jan 2010 12:15

Inverness may be way up there, but is very stable from a crewing point of view. Just 5 Dash captains and all with a desire to stay up here.
Sorry...

And what about this? Likely to be true?

Thank u.

Coffin Corner 20th Jan 2010 13:24

If it is it'll most likely be the Flybe sponsored cadets. There's still a fair few waiting in the wings. Don't get your hopes up.
