Jumpseat on Iceland Air from USA

Trying to go to Europe via Reykjavik, Iceland and spend three days each way in Reykjavik.

Can any Iceland Air pilot tell if a US [airline] pilot can jump-seat out of Seattle or Minneapolis to Europe via Reykjavik?

Thanks!

P.S. What would be the proper ‘Forum’ to post this on?

I'm not an Icelandair pilot, but I'm pretty sure that the only way you could jumpseat would be to have someone you know whithin the company get you a stby ticket. (Or staff travel ticket, rather).

In Europe, Perwazee, we cannot "jumpseat" in the US manner even on our own airlines. However we can sit in the jumpseat if we have a standby ticket and the flight is full.

eg KLM pilots have to pay Z fares to travel (within europe or further afield) even on KLM flights.

So I doubt you can ride without a ticket on Icelandair if that is what you mean by jumpseating.

Thanks to both of you!

I sounds like I will have to buy the 'Zed' fare on Iceland. I appreciate your time and effort to reply.

Cheers!

Where in Europe do you want to go?

Piton, you are partially wrong. KLM Pilots and F/A’s can jumpseat to/from their country of residency. For leisure travel they have to buy a Z ticket, which is (with all the taxes) often more expensive than a full fare ticket.
