Royal Air Maroc Express (RAME) Merged 2012

Hi all

Has anyone heard of any updates on the 1 year ATR contract for Royal Air Maroc Express....last I heard there were delays but it seems that they are close to issuing sim check dates in Toulouse? Anyone heard anything and how many FO's/Capts they are initially looking for?

seasexsun 25th May 2009 18:09

I have some friends who applied with more than 1500 hours on the ATR and they were told that they were not preselected. I think company has recruited enough pilots.

powdermonkey 25th May 2009 18:48

There were 2 agencies involved, my friend applied through both, rishworth told him no and etops send him the initial contract! ....mmmmmmmm

I think RAM express will start up with two old ATR42's that RAM used to have and later on were seconded to Regional Air Lines.

There are few pilots who flew the Regional Operation ( 3-4 ATR 42's) at one time. Most had Moroccan Validations and thus would have probably been offered a job to continue with RAM express given all the obvious benefits.

Also RAM signed a deal with ATR to provide up to 4 used ATR 72, until the new dash 600 were ready by 2011-12.

If this continues, requirements will be ongoing for more drivers.

Dash 600 ? You mean ATR 72-600 mate

concordino 27th May 2009 07:31

Yes ATR 72-600, That's what i meant :)

powdermonkey 27th May 2009 07:34

Quite right B-737, ATR 72-600's om order which I believe have yet to be test flown....I could be wrong. In the meantime I heard they are planning to kick off with 5 leased AC from ATR, 2 of which I heard were 72's from AerArann, which were sent back to ATR in March/April....so I excpected 25 FO positions to be available from the get go! I was short of hours on type, but as for some pilots not being pre-selected with 1500hrs? That must have been an agency thing, I know 3 at least who got sent out the initial contract with significantly less than that, however it then goes to RAME recruitment and they then decide if or not you will be called for the SIM check. Would be interesting to know how many pilots on ATR went for it.

Rishworth Aviation said initially RAME is looking for 12 Capt and 12 Co's.. If this has changed i don't really know!

Rishwoth said also that they were the only agency providing ATR drivers to RAME, which is wrong because I spoke to Etops recently and they're recruiting for the contract aswell.

The initial call from Rishworth for Capt were 1000 PIC on type.. They collected applications and realized soon, because of the market siuation, a big interest from ATR drivers.

Rishworth send out the contract details, not the real contrat to be exact here, to many guys! (and many of these guys were not selected later).

Two capt from my company applied for left seat position, one with 1800 pic on type and the other with 1200 pic on type! They both did get an email fr Rishworth 2-3 weeks ago saying that; Because the number of applications fr experienced ATR guys, we have raised the limit to 2000 PIC on type ant following this You are not one of the selected candidates!! Basically all the necessary documents, like recurrent docs, CAA docs, license verification, no accident report letters were collected by Rishworth but their application were never send to RAME.

The Marrocco DGCA were planned to have a meeting last week about license validation for the selected guys, it was postponed to this week I believe! After possitive validation a sim check i waiting and who knows whats next..?

But I must say that the contract, in terms of $$$ looks very good! They added a few possible rosters to choose between aswell...

By the way the 2 leased ATR 72-200 were opereted by Aurigny, not by Aer Arann.. Aurigny replaced them with 72-500..

Ah ok ATR 250....I stand corrected on the ATR's from Aer Arann, although I had been told that REA and I think REB were gone there! Anyhow, the requirements from Rishworth and ETOPS seem to vary, and one of my mates just got called today for the sim check and his hours were well below 1000 on type...hard to say who is making the calls and what the requirements are, maybe diff. for captains possibly due to a lot more contractors on the market!

emirmorocan 27th May 2009 23:19

Actually this is my 4th year here in Morocco flying ATR for Regional Airlines and I can assure that our contract with Rishworth/Regional was much better than this one offered by RAME.

B-737 28th May 2009 02:11

Could you give details please of this new contract ? Is it the same for locals?
Thanks

emirmorocan 28th May 2009 10:08

The salary offered by RAME is around USD 1200 less than the actual salary for Co-pilots and USD 100 less for Captains.
The 3 tickets/year has finished.:bored:
I think that Etops did not check our conditions here and accepted what RAME was offering.:bored:
RAME are predicting layovers of 4 or 5 hours in Oujda,Laayoune,Ouarzazate....I just wanna see if the standart of the hotels will be the same of RAM crews (see Atlas Blue problems):ugh:
There is only a local here, her contract is more poor than us. She probably will join RAME.

ATRISGREAT 28th May 2009 15:47

do they take pilots with no hours on type?

BigNumber 28th May 2009 16:25

Definitely; but you have present yourself in person to hand over the CV face to face.

B-737 29th May 2009 03:26

Are you sure of that?
They only take local pilots with no hours on type and they must be type rated
Foreigners need at least 400 hrs on type ( Moroccan CAA rule)

B-737 29th May 2009 03:32

That's really surprising. There was only one Moroccan flyng Regional ATR's? Why?
If you are saying conditions are poorer in RAME than the previous ones in Regional , even if she go there her contract will be poorer! :ugh:

BigNumber 29th May 2009 07:24

Yep; I routinely operate ELLX - GMMN - GMMI and had opportunity to chat to other 'drivers' on the ramp.

(Loads of brits and dutch suprisingly).

Wave your face in person was their usual advice - I can only repeat what I was told..... hope it helps.

B -737

The majority of locals were on B1900 that has finished. I think the problem was the ATPL license, it was required to fly the ATR.
And about the girl , you can bet that the conditions will be worst for her at RAME.

B-737 29th May 2009 19:00

All right thank you
I didn't know that you can drive a beech 1900 without having at least a frozen ATPL

ClimbSequence 24th Jul 2009 05:28

Can anyone give some details about the package offered by RAME???
