Darwin Airline
 

Hi all!
I don't know if this is the right place to post this message.
I'm looking for information about a Swiss regional airline called Darwin Airline. I would like to know if it's a serious company, how's the roster, how many flight hours per year etc...

Probably the wrong forum. Are you asking because you fly Saabs? I saw them advertising for aircrew somewhere recently.

They do steady business up and down to Zurich from Lugano. Its a Lugano base as far as I know.

Darwin is a good airline. They fly LUG, which is most probably the most demanding airport in this corner of the world. They do partly the ZRH service for Swiss and partly flight under their own responsability.

If it's your first airline job, very good entry. I guess better pay than in rest of Europe, escpecially if you can arrange taxation in Switzerland. OK, Italy is not so bad after all. Commuting to Italy: depends where. You could live around Milano and drive to LUG every day. Roster: not too many hours, because flights are short. Since it's a prop job you don't have always the chances for a jet career. But the SB20 is a very very powerful aircraft with some special abilities. FBW, HUD, hot'n'high, shortfield, steep approach... I don't know of any SB20 pilot who would have problems to transition to any jet thereafter.

first of all thanks for your answer. I have a couple of questions, what do you mean when you say "...you don't have always the chances for a jet carrer"? Do you know roughly how many hours per year or which is the roster (days on-days off)?

I asked few days ago in the Italian forum if you have to pay for your TR and not answer at all. Does anybody know if you have to P2F in this company??

Not sure, although there seems to be a few airlines out there that seem to win the darwin award year after year

Not sure about Darwin, I think moderate Italian is at least a requirement.
No info on whether you pay for your TR, etc.

Helvetic is a good place though I'd say. Flying lots and lots of hours for Swiss, independent charters all over the Med and some of their own scheduled routes. Pay is good (depending on where in the Zurich area you live of course), TR is paid by company.

Moderate Italian should not be a problem for a Spaniard :uhoh:, but the big issue is the TR "price" and how many Italians or Swiss want to go there :O

Maybe I'm wrong but the place and the company look like a great place...
