Jobs Everywhere...

There is no down turn..Just ask all the recruitment agencies and the pilot job websites.Everyday there is some sort of new job posted on these sites.

My question is do these jobs really exist or are they just being added to try to keep there site as the number 1 for pilot recruitment??

Im currently flying the 737 and was hoping to get to a different part of the world for something different but unfortunately the down turn is real and from being emailed consistently on work abroad its down to maybe one every two weeks..A real shame really as things were looking up for all pilots around the world with all types of experience, now its going to be back to dog eat dog and who will do it cheaper..:=

Dont do it people and undercut your fellow pilots as it takes far too long to try and get back the T and C's when times are good. And they will return to be back in our favour..

From what I gather the jobs are real. They are not "new" jobs, they are just the same ones from yesterday re-listed.

When you go to a job site the positions are usually listed according to the most recent to the oldest. Therefore, if you don't re-list everyday your job goes down the list to where most folks don't look.

I, like many of us, have spent way too much time on those sites recently. In hindsight I should have anticipated my position and started looking months ago when things weren't as tight and an experienced captain could get a job without a bus or a boeing type rating. Oh well, live and learn.

A former colleague of mine said he was on the phone to one of the contract agencies recently. The lady at the end of the phone said she even has details of TRI/TREs who are out of work and doing nothing. The opportunities are drying up and those that are left are predominately on the Airbus in the Far East.

any opinions on which companies in the far east are looking for airbus pilots?

I saw a few adverts in China on flightglobal.com

Not sure who the operator(s) are but I am sure the contract agencies will be able to answer your question.

As far as I see it; there's always a shortage, and never a shortage, of pilots.

There's always a shortage of captains with a gazillion hours willing to relocate 8 time zones to get paid peanuts on a smaller ship -- and there's never a shortage of people with 200 hours fresh out of flight school who would gladly sell their soul to get any job.

So there are never no jobs, and there will never be enough jobs for all.

It has been illegal to advertise non-existent vacancies for a number of years. Although proving this could be a little tricky.

Imho, if you have a job, don't be too quick to move to the other side of the world in the hope that all will be rosy. The job you go to might be less certain to survive the downturn, yet to really get going imo, than your present one.
Real or not, the job you have is the best one at the moment.
