Life Insurance for Pilots.....where?
 

Can anyone please recommend to me where I can buy some life insurance as a pilot. My company does not have this facility and alot of firms are not interested to sell life insurance to pilots.
The best I have seen at the moment is £300000 lump sum payout for a 20 year term at a cost or approx £65\ month.

Scottish Providence and Norwich Union - now Aviva or somesuch - both cover aircrew and don't tend to weight the premiums.

Try a good broker. When I took out life insurance earlier this year (Eagle star), they were bothered that I had a "Dangerous Occupation". But when thet sent me a detailed questionaire, they realised I was standard Airline flight crewand then lost interest in my "Dangerous Occupation". Cost is similar to your recent quote for 300.

No, Norwich Union doubled my premium after receiving back the aviation questionaire. Told them the truth, twin turbo flying for the main part, with a few hours a year GA piston single. Think it's the single which caused the trouble, but it's an educated guess.

Folks when I first took out my policy I was on JAR25 medium Turboprop doing scheduled airline work only and the premium was £52 for £250,000 over 20 years index linked and included Critical Illness cover for free.... Recent statement now made the cover £265,000 and as I had quit smoking for over a year dropped the premium to £32. Now needless to say age, medical history, etc has a huge bearing but my broker felt that this was a good policy that suited my lifestyle/career.

If you are in a company pension scheme, is there not a "death in service" benefit? I don't claim to be an expert but the last time I checked "in service" meant when in the employ of the company - in simple terms you could commit suicide in your own house and the scheme would pay out! (Not that I recommend such action).
