Ryanair Recruitment - latest update!

Sorted out the finance? Got the Oakley's, hair gel, and Pooley's clipboard?
Prepared to work under dodgy terms and conditions? Still desperate to fly a shiny EI reg jet?

Here, from a most reliable FR source, are Ryanair's recruitment plans...

P2 type rating courses cancelled for Nov, Dec 08 and Jan, Feb 09.

Recruitment open days at EMA 13/14th Sep cancelled

300+ type rating courses planned from Mar 09 (Check RYR website)

Small number of DE positions for type rated pilots available in 08/09

Hope this is useful....

Not querying your source or the info, but given that it is widely believed that Type courses are , how shall we say, a source of income to FR as opposed to loss, I don't see much logic in cancelling any.
Past history shows they were never too fussed about having bods doing courses then
leaving aforesaid people sitting around earning nowt for a while prior to or following line training, so I don't see the logic to cutting off an income supply. But, who said logic ever counted for diddly-squat.

The info in bold is 100% correct, it was released on a company memo yesterday. Although I fail to see why someone is so smug in passing on the information that will dampen the hopes of quite a few wannabees. :=

Deano777 29th Aug 2008 23:30

It's not dampening their hopes at all, afterall it is fact. Best to tell it as it is rather than lead the wannabes up the garden path eh?

thebeast 30th Aug 2008 10:27

the info posted is correct as was a company memo (well ok correct ish).

As for

'a source of income to FR as opposed to loss, I don't see much logic in cancelling any.'

The logic could be cancel them now so when Ryr start doing the type ratings in house, which is very very soon, there is even more income to be made.

Happy Wanderer 30th Aug 2008 10:39

Guys, is that TR courses cancelled at both OAA and CAE??

Yep that sounds more like it.

"Although I fail to see why someone is so smug in passing on the information that will dampen the hopes of quite a few wannabees. "

Oi! SD!..... "Smug"? You humourless herbert!

I was merely posting a few facts which may be of help to some people.

From experience, the New First Officer stereotype is pretty accurate. I flew with a guy the other day for which image was everything. He had in his bag a uniform cap with gold leaves on the peak. He'd bought it on the internet, and said he wore it when waiting at the bus stop. Although his suede shoes detracted somewhat from the overall effect.

Fair enough SID, day 5 of earlies takes its toll on the sense of humour department! :E

CamelhAir 31st Aug 2008 17:00

SID plate, Not far wrong with the sterotype ha ha. Though buying your own hat is a new low. Not sure what kind of image is projects to be waiting at a bus stop though! No doubt he doesn't get that his preoccupation with image over substance had lead to the throat cutting that means he can't afford a car.

SpamCanDriver 31st Aug 2008 17:10

Sidplate, that is priceless bought his on hat off the internet!
And then telling u he wears it while waiting for the bus even better!
If that was me I would have made him wear it in the crew room:}

Things have obviously changed since my days in RYR at STN where most people never even wore their jackets prefering coats instead

IrishJetdriver 31st Aug 2008 17:41

hat trick

Ah the good old days. When I was on the classic Dash at Flybe, a hat was worth its weight in gold. Invaluable for keeping pen, calculator, sunnies and any food scraps in as there was no other place to put them! It was however most definitely not worn!

I also agree that the 'Buying your own hat' is priceless I once even saw a four ringer guy in full uniform in the supermarket doing the weekly shop something I could not bring myself to do,rather walk around in a baseball cap and jeans. (and do i hate baseball caps'LOL

to the throat cutting that means he can't afford a car
try driving past prestwick airport, there are a stream of FO's always walking to/from the airport. Either they are carless or cant afford to pay the carpark fees.

captplaystation 1st Sep 2008 19:08

Or it could be like STN where there are no busses avail from some car-parks to terminal. Crew transport? that'll be attached by a system of bones and ligaments to your ankle mate.

captplaystation 2nd Sep 2008 10:08

Happy Wanderer 2nd Sep 2008 10:18

Happy Wanderer 2nd Sep 2008 16:10
