BA staff travel gets worse and worse, first BMED goes, now GB airways. But in the grand schemes of things it is no big deal.

Like alot of easyJet guys i have worked for other companies (including BA). And like them easyJet is the best company by far for all the reasons listed on previous posts and more.
If you decide to stay, great, you'll love it. If you want to leave, good luck.

But dont think you're better than us. A jobs a job and a planes a plane.

Don't ruin it for the people who do want to come across by making remarks that make 130 planes worth of crews think you are all snobs!!

For the guys/gals at GB, can I echo the comments that Easyjet is a friendly airline which has immensely improved over the last few years. Of course there are still things to be put right but name an airline that doesn't have issues. The Easyjet airline that No more nite flts & Ag Bisc encountered is not relevant to todays airline!

Yes but that's what sells in today's market, rather well in their opinion at easyland. The figures bear this out, hence today's announcement.

There will be night flights as these are the runway slots Easy are buying. So Both companies will have to get use to night flying.

Everything considered it could turn out to be positive transition, we will have to wait and see how the terms and conditions are sorted out. As it stands the pension contributions paid by Easy are only half that paid by GB.

Funny thing that most of the BACon FOs seemed to jump at the opportunity to work for Easyjet. Can't all be bad, modern fleet, household brand at least 15k a year extra (in that case at least)

Its owned by BA and run by most of the same muppets who ruined BA Connect/ BA CitiExpress:hmm:

They do seem to be taking the customer rather for granted here. I regularly travel on the routes down to the Canaries, often in Club, and whilst the passenger has the choice of travelling charter already, the aircraft are fairly full both in economy and Club.
People are willing to pay a little extra for hot meals drinks and space and the lower hassle factor of a scheduled flight.
To say that these will become Easyjet flights and passengers will be transferred does seem to be assuming a lot, The Club passengers will almost certainly be looking elsewhere, and with 25 per flight paying £300-£400 return that is going to make a dent in the balance sheet.
Many of their Mediterranean destinations such as Faro or Cyprus fit in the same profile, with the slightly more up-market traveller rather than the cheap and cheerfull stag party outing.
I suppose time will tell whether they want the routes or just the slots, at that price they seem to be getting a bargain.

Seat1a pls. I agree with your comments about club pax. However I would wholeheartedly disagree that GBs economy pax are more upmarket than Easyjets to the Med destinations. Also to be honest following my experience of hot meals whilst flying to FAO & ALC on GB, I would rather they did not bother.

Ever seen these poor colleagues early in the morning ?
Coming back from those nightflights ?

Not to mention their passengers (last time darling, next time i'll book a day-flight!)

There's been all sorts of rumours floating around the liverpool ezy base about slots at manchester etc...the main one that they were looking at dual basing crews between manch and lpl. Problem ezy face is that they got tied into a contract at liverpool which stops them flying out of another north west base, which they are trying to resolve as we speak...buying GB obviously gets us the slots at manchester we have been wanting for a while....

Most bases are pretty much fully crewed, however most of the guys getting commands seem to be getting sent to madrid.
Most guys are gtting where they want to be within 6 - 12 months.

Oh and can I just say, I dont know how you guys have spent your days doing monitored approaches! I'd be hands everywhere! not a clue!:sad:

I thought we had it bad in BMED but gb has it worse.i think on the end of the day its a secure job if ezy takes the gb crew witch I am sure it will.The only change will be aircraft colour and uniform change where as we in BMED had a whole lifestyle change.Good luck to the GB crew.I have been threw this scenario and got a new job.One good thing is you wont need to deal with BA as they have the worst groundstaff (I can vouch for LHR T4 only) I have encountered.EZY ground operations is brilliant.

This announcement has come out of the blue, and I understand the shock.
We're a good bunch and welcome anyone without prejudice.
Please those of you who believe Easyjet isn't for you thats fine but don't tarnish your colleagues.
The que to join Easy is massive you (200 pilots) have just jumped it.
P.S. I've heard BA, BMI, XL, Thomsons and Thomas Cook all have direct entry command vacancies, why not try them

We're told that we are overcrewed at LGW and I've not worked 4 sectors and not been called off our 2.5 hour home standby's for quite some time. 50 hours in July, 60 hours in August, 62 hours in September, 55 hours in October and just 30 rostered hours so far in November with the rest as home standbys. Welcome to our world GB...

Will this mean EZY crew having to do night flights, position up to Manchester etc..........

Our shares jumped 46.50p today too......which is nice....:)

Sorry to hear that you are maxing out. Are you a captain, I'm not. I also know about other FO's who are doing around 60-70 hours a month, most suspiciously seem to be approaching the 1500 hour mark. Are EZY trying to delay the inevitable pay rise by slowing us down pre winter sim?

I've got 5 home standby's in-a-row from 1100 - 1330 local this week. That's 2.5 hours to me?
