How did you merge your seniority lists, Britts & 2bob???

We in MYT/TCX are voting on some hybrid system at the mo, where fo's are DOJ and Captains are date of command appointment. Lots of people aren't happy (surely not....).

How did you do it in TUI/FCA. The rumour is strict DOJ, which seems to be the most transparant and legal?

Seniority in TFly & FCA was settled on the basis of strict DOJ, regardless of seat. No fudges or fiddles.

Vote on an alternative until you are blue in the face, but you will find that big BALPA will veto anything other that strict DOJ. Ask a lawyer why.

Here in Canada, we mergered the 4 regional airlines by DOJ. (AirBc,CRA,Air Ontario,Air Nova) There were a few growing pains, but in the end it worked out better. The merger fight between Air Canada and Canadian is still on going. They went with a formula merger. :ugh:

bmi and Bmed seniority was merged on DOJ also

CS, at the moment we are expecting TUI Travel to be told by the union that they want a single list based on DofJ.

At present in FCA we have the same system that you are voting on, being two lists based on DofJ for FO's with date of command for Capts. There is a single list based on DofJ for redundancy.

In TUI there is only one list, based on DofJ.

We are told by the our respective CC's that BALPA legal advisors say this is the ONLY method that stands up to legal scrutiny so I am more than intrigued to see Blackcaps comment that BALPA advised that a mechanical merger was advocated in BAC/Flybe. I would be interested to know who gave that advice and why its now changed.

Sounds like a dogs dinner to me. I guess the more senior guys must be MYT given the existances of both airlines. Difficult one to call as mechanical merging of lists some think is now illegal.

Why not have one list by DOJ for all pilots ? I can only guess that TCX captains will lose out likewise in that scenario and seeing as their CC is more likely than not going to be Captains doing the negotiating they are looking after themselves whilst casting their F/Os to the wolves.

Doesn't sound to me like it's fair but I suppose there would always be winners and losers.
