I have the possiblity of flying on contract the CRJ-200 aircraft in China soon. I am wondering what the conditions are like for an American, yes I'm a bloody yank! What is it like flying there. I have SOME ideas but would like the INSIDE scoop. Thanks

Saturn I've only flown in and out of Beijing and Shanghai. These are the two major ports of entry for foreign airlines and are set up quite well. ATC English can be a bit of a problem at times. You definately need to use standard ICAO phrases and listen carefully, especially on route as they will not understand you. Note that Flight levels are metric.
The locals are friendly but there is a lot of red tape still. The two places I mentioned are great with plenty to see and do, day or night! I am sure you will have a great time if you "bend" with the local ways a little and keep a low profile. :)

Saturn,

I fly in china on a daily basis , and like eagle says, stick to standard atc, some airports still use QFE however china is in the proces of goiing QNH.
there is alot of procedureflying ie. no radarvectors although this may vary at airports.
Eagle is right about PEK and SHA, day/night always something to do.
the people are very friendly and helpful. and do not care much about nationality but more about personality..

if haev more questions/want more info, Email me.
S.
