737 or 757 Type Rating

Been on the turboprops for a few years now, about 3000 hours ish and about 1300 hours PIC on ATR`s.

Looking to relocate back to UK and self sponsor either a 737 or 757 rating. Question is, which one would I have a better chance of employment after completing the rating and no experience on type, there seems to be an equal number of operators for each type.

Few things to take into account really, don`t know whether the charter airline mergers are going to have an affect of the number of 757 pilots floating about ?

What would you do? Any feedback appreciated !

Seems a bit drastic to self sponsor a TR with your experience. Lots of people moving on recently from my lot (ATRs) to jet operators. You could even look into a DEC position on something like the 146? You'd even be eligible to apply for DEC position on the A320 at Aer Lingus' new Belfast Base. Don't mention the war

I agree that there is no point in self-sponsoring a type rating with your level of experience. I do not know how long you have been outside the UK, but the job market is very healthy at present - no doubt a lot better then when you left. Don't waste your money.

The guys are right, there's a pilot shortage in the UK. You'd do well to save your money and let your next employer fund your training.

My friend,Dont spend a cent on a T/R. Aim for the A320/737NG and you wont starve.....jobs every where.Fly safe.
