BMI stuff up BMED Pay

I hear that in the first month that BMI have taken responsibility for paying BMED crews, the pay has gone very wrong!

There are stories of 40% reduction in take home pay, taxing of allowances and some staff not getting any pay at all! Furthermore, BMI don't seem to be entertaining any complaints.

There are some very worried people with mortgages to pay out there. Is this the norm for BMI employees or just an initial glitch?

It's pretty normal for duty pay to be wrong, especially DFOD or bought day payments, but basic salary is usually correct and on time. The hard thing is trying to find out who can put it right: pay roll have a civil service mentality of 'it's not my responsibility'. I don't really envy you, but can't offer much advice either.

Hi all,
This just doesn't surprise me at all. I left last millenium and this happened twice - no pay - not even a penny!
It took two weeks of "strike" action to get an advance! I was overseas base at the time and they sent a YTS (no joke it was his last day too) with a big envelope of Sterling pounds! We had to change the money ourselves at our cost.
We also had to DEMAND an appology!
For those of you that are moving to pastures new. Keep all the flight details (chocks off to chocks on - ask the FO) including any duty free details.
They will screw you on you last pay, that's a guarentee.
BMI are ******* for that especially for the CC.
It an absolute disgrace that such a "blue chip" company cannot organise pay for it's staff but then again if you phone payroll you'll discover it's done by a semi-retired part-time Lady (she's lovely though). Does make you think overtime who actually bank rolls the company - you'll find out that it's actually the CC!! - by not paying them!
Makes RyanAir somewhat charitable.
Yes, I am bitter and twisted but at least I'm FREE!!!!:}

P.S I wouldn't bother with CC89 as their response was "Hangin' there - it'll be alright mentality" that was from the Top. The whole base joined the foreign union! Their members got compensation too!

Since when has BMI been a blue chip company?

SinBin 31st May 2007 12:08

It's a privately owned company, Orvil are you sure you know what you're on about?

Orvil 31st May 2007 14:28

Sinbin,
"Blue Chip" as you will notice is in inverted commas, please replace with "leading brand", "Europes No1", "LoCo Airline", or my favourite "The UK's innovative airline"
Anyway, I think your being a little pedantic and digressing from the subject.

Should this be in the CC forum or does it affect pilots as well?

bmi were making huge payroll errors (usually in their favour) when I joined in 1999, they were still doing it to me when I left last year.
Apologies are rare (or insincere), corrective action non-existent.

Welcome to bmi.

Not sure where the info has come from but my pay was spot on and I havnt heard anyone else complain. Even got my expenses!!!

BMEDFO 7th Jun 2007 09:32

My pay was also correct!

Floppy Link 7th Jun 2007 10:21

I wish mine was wrong! Being long term sick means I get a big fat zero in the bottom right corner. :uhoh:

Tisme 7th Jun 2007 20:04

It was identifed that some people were paid incorrectly last month, it was just Crew either it was across all departments.

bmi and bmed included.

lexxity 7th Jun 2007 20:17

Payroll are generally ****e. There it is. They overpaid me last year, I called FIVE times to sort it. About 4 weeks ago I get a note from our admin lady asking why I have never passed on the overpayment forms. BECAUSE I NEVER HAD THEM! Payroll said I had! I know several people who have been overpaid and never been chased after initial contact. So they worry that if they leave they will get zero. Also know several people who have been underpaid, missing shift pay, overtime, over taxed after recieving proper tax code. I work in ground services, so at least I know payroll aren't just being personal.

acbus1 10th Jun 2007 08:19

Maybe the pilots should all go on strike.

BALPA would back you up, wouldn't they (e.g. as per the pay "deal" last year)?

The BMed peeps are in for many nice surprises, methinks.

:E
