G'day chaps,
Has Flybe started to recruite Direct-entry Captains on the 400Q yet?
Has anyone got interview/start dates??
I know they have loads of applications but I havent heard from them
re my application for yonks!!

As far as I'm aware, FlyBe only recruits DEC and Fast Track F/O at the moment. Worth sending a CV.

Why not sign up and try it for yourself? Let me know if you are so that I can recommend you and collect the bounty they pay to those who persuade a pilot to join up.

Thats how desperate they are.

A fellow Flybe er worked out the acronym tho. :p

Don't join Flybe.

Exploitation in the true sense of the word.

Your a Pilot, you can go anywhere you want at the moment join easy, bmi, Monarch or even Ryanair, loads of airlines. Flybe is probably the worst airline in the UK for terms and conditions.

I can't understand why your even considering it.

seriousley................they dont come any worse than FLYBE.

Ryanair are the nearest thing to paradise in comparison. Stable roster, decent equipment and well paid.

Join Jim French's wurzle gummage airline and forget you ever had a life.

I've only been part of flybe since they bought BA Connect, but dont be put off by the posters slagging it. So far it seems that although flybe is far from perfect and there are certainly better terms and conditions on offer from other operators out there, there are plenty, plenty worse. Flybe offer new aircraft, ok pay for a regional, big choice of bases, minimum nightstops once things settle down and so far all the flybe folk I have come across have been great - friendly, helpful and welcoming towards us new arrivals. Yes, the new scheduling agreement although better than what flybe had before, could be better. The daily fire-fighting to cover the schedule no matter how late flights run needs to settle down (though having said that, my roster has been pretty stable so far) and there seems to be a sponsorship deal now with Weight-watchers given the lack of crew food on offer ! Despite that there is a bunch of good professional guys and gals here from both the original flybe and us former rashers keen to make it work, so dont be put off.

Like most airlines, Flybe is not the dream job, if indeed there is such a thing. However, it is far better than any other regional I can presently think of, and unsurpassed (ie no worse) by any previous of my own experience, including Logy and Manx prior to the BA poison. It does prioritise making a profit, (hardly unreasonable) which means it has stayed round for quite a while. It also has the advantage of deepish pockets, which again explains how it's survived the ups and downs of the business. Being regional, it will never match Easy/Ryan, nor TOM/FCA/MYT in their salary scales, nor will it come close to National Legacies. It's unlikely to ever operate seriously large metal.
What it will do, (if that floats your boat), is give you interesting flying on relatively new and well maintained Turboprops and commuter jets, it will allow you home most nights - given the constraints of the business (this latter seems to be often forgotten by bits of Baconrind and other slaggers), and it will pay relatively top dollar for the job.
It will allow newbies in, and provided you stick to the contract you sign, it will let you go with a cheery wave if and when you want to move on to big city boring (better-paid) longish haul on a scruggs wonderjet.
It's not perfect, nor is everyone who works for it in training or management (particularly with the ex-bacons:rolleyes: ) however it is a perfectly fair day's pay for a fair day's work.
Look around prune, there seem to be very few airlines where the pilots on here say
"great job, I love my management, they pay me more than I want, and I'm always trying to work more days for free and get more nightstops...":p
Really chaps, vote with your feet - plenty have, there are always replacements just as there are always people who want a regional lifestyle!

Perhaps, just maybe, possibly peut etre, if the bits of Bacon rind who are not happy := would either shape up or ship out, then the whole shooting match would become more settled. Seriously, most of the Flybe Bashing comes from Rashers who not un-naturally would like their former Ts and Cs back:oh: . Deal with the situation, you are where you are, your airline failed, and now you're in a new one:} . If you don't like it, well, lots of you have shown where the door is......:p it's just a trifle tedious listening to the whine long after the engines have shut down!:ugh: :uhoh:

What's going on guys and girls,

I just passed my sim ride with Fly BE two weeks ago and didn't get much of a reponse, no e-mail, no nothing. Finally got a hold of someone and it sounds like they are tryin to put together a program for fast track F/O's that's not quite ready yet.....anybody know more than me? Im anxious to get started but can wait if it means more pay!

Also, any Fly Be'ers out there recommend their favourite base? Im moving from overseas and have not lived in England/Scotland/Ireland before so I'm curious.

I just want to back up some of the positive posts on here. For what it is trying to be, Flybe is doing very well. Yes there are problems, and if any professional pilot here on PPRuNe tells me that there are no problems with their airline, then I'll not believe them.

I have met some really nice ex-Bacon pilots, and I've met some who've done nothing else but slag off their new employer, and prided themselves on announcing (rather loudly) that they're leaving. I wish them all the best, but I'd take odds-on that they are in for the same "culture shock" wherever they're going.

I'm sad that there is still a "them and us" attitude, but inevitably it will remain until the Bacon fleet is consigned to the past and we all work on the fleet in Flybe's model.

As for the opportunity for "newbies", I say give it a go, you could do a lot worse.

Whilst there were always going to be problems this season, I gather from friends it is nowhere near as bad as anticipated. Even the seniority brouhaha seems to have been reasonably resolved (well done BALPA)

FWIW there was a FlyBe Q400 inthe circuit today at Pretwick (thurs 26th March). So at least some training is going on.
