Opinions of VLM

Hello all,

I have a good friend who is looking to get on with VLM. Can someone speak to QOL, pay, pilot domiciles and other considerations? I know that it operates Fokker 50s out of Belgium and LCY but that is the extent of my knowledge. I've seen them flying into LCY - nice paints scheme. Are any pilots based at LCY?

Thanks for any opinions and facts you can provide.

Cheers

I guess nobody has heard of VLM... Shocking! Still appreciate any impressions or opinions. PMs are welcome too.

Cheers

I heard that the newly resurrected cityflyer were planning to take them over......anyone know any more?

4 of their aircraft parked up at MAN over the weekend.

They'd be parked up at MAN because that is one of their bases, and many of their flights are weekdays only...

Hey Riker,

VLM is a very descent and healthy company.
It operates out of its bases in Antwerp,Amsterdam,Rotterdam,Manchester,Liverpool and Luxembourg.

The bulk of their traffic is business people, and they fly VLM because of their good service and perfect conneciton to LCY (which is not a base).

The pay I hear is not bad at all. especially for captains.
Also for many VLM pilots the aspect of being home every night is a nice one.
The operation you fly for VLM is perhaps the only negative i can think of about this company.
Expect to fly almost all flight from your base to LCY and back.
sometimes more then once a day.
As you can understand this can get boring after a while. but its what VLM is all about. But still, nice and healthy company. And with a good athmosphere I hear.

Hope this helps a bit.
regards
Dutch.

VLM Chaps

Fully agree with Dutch250. Spoke to lots of VLM guys over the last few months who would be happy to stay long-term with the company.........if the routes weren't so downright boring!
Friendly company, decently treated, fair enough pay, tedious MAN-LCY-MAN-LCY-MAN-LCY......

VLM is a great place to work.

Civilised hours, decent pay, morale is good. There is no base for crews at LCY, at least at the moment.

And the routes aren't nearly as dull as has been implied above!

VLM also have a Manchester base and they are starting to fly a Bae 146 from London City soon too.
But its not VLM crewing the 146, right?

I don't think it is. I am led to believe its possibly a German company providing the aircraft, but could be wrong.

Canada Goose, Yes.
