Thomsonfly sim assessment for typerated pilots.
 

Dear all.

I have a second stage assessment with Thomsonfly very soon.
I am not interested in any info already given here on pprune, but I am very interested in some info about what to expect in the B737-300 simulator if already type rated on the B737 NG??

I have asked HR, but they say that I have what I need... But I have only received the standard normal sim assessment procedures. Can it really be true, that there will be no engine failures etc??

I will be very pleased if there is anybody out there who can help me out here.

I personally wouldn't trust HR, Not that they would lie to you...they just don't know enought to be able to lie :}

There is a V1 cut as part of the test for DEC, (but not for F/O I think). If your bumpf doesn't detail the departure and arrival to be used, and a brief summary of what will be done, then you haven't been given what should have been - unless things have changed recently.

However, the test is pretty standard stuff, although those used to the latest boeings or Airbus will likely find it very demanding to fly this spongy, clockwork ergonomic dog of an aeroplane (if the sim is anything to go by); If pulled the stick in my aeroplane like what is needed with this bird, there would be a 10 foot trench down the middle of the runway; (No, I didn't pass!)

Don't need to pass the assessment.

Just been called by an agency again offering me a DEC with Thomsonfly for 6 months with none of the 2 day *****. That's the second time I've been approached for this in 6 months despite the fact I have been declined by Thomsonfly twice in the past three years at Luton.

If you are a Thomsonfly FO Call your Balpa rep asap.

I'm awful tempted to take the temporary position and then attend Luton again for the out of date assessment, tell them where I'm working and see what transpires.

No need to do so. No more DEC at Thomsonfly, enough internal candidates apparently. Contract skippers not ideal, however much better as an interim measure than lots of DEC appearing at the bottom of the seniority list.

Incidentally, until recently the internal candidates had a much more onerous assessment to pass than a mere 2 days of HR B/S.
