Thompson fly money.
 
I have just been talking to a friend of mine who knows somebody at,Thompson fly who is on the 757,767 at Manchester for about 2 years.And this person claims that last month before tax they earned £16500!Which equates to about £198000 per year .Now I have been in the airline world for the last 12years and earn no where near this figure.Now the airline that I work for is either doing something radically wrong (and I seem to earn what appears to be the airline average salary)or Thompson fly is doing very very well or is trying to get rid of alot of money and feels the best way is to give it to its staff!Can anybody at Thompson fly comment on this and who do I write to?:ok:

Probably not unreasonable if they are doing non-stop rolling overtime to cover a pilot shortage. Doubt it'll last.

Ah, the old 'friend of a friend who knows someone at......' story! Very reliable! If the 'friend of your friend who knows of someone who......' says so, then it must be true! Whatever the score, why are you thundering about it, and why do you feel you should write to someone? In fact, is it really anything to do with you? And why do you have the arrogance to call it 'money laundering' and attaching the name of a good company to your daft post? And when you finally have to admit that your 'friend of a friend who knows somebody' might have exaggerated along the way, can we expect an apology for dragging a company's good name through the mud in your outrageous jealousy?

I guess it's just ThomsonFly's week for the idiot mob having a go. :mad: :yuk:

Anyway,a Captain who does 17 days off working in a month period would gross that easily. If he was a senior trainer, even more likely. Because of the way the allowances etc are done, this could have been 17 days effectively over 7 odd weeks. Quite possible at the moment because of a very high training load.:hmm:

Also, it takes time for promotions and incremental pay to catch up on occasion. As a Second Officer a while back I grossed £9k one month due all the back pay etc. I had lots of friends of friends that month, especially down the pub and Mrs Yeoman was well chuffed too.:E

People forget......pilot + Training Captain duties + possible management role + back overtime........stand back the money cannon is about to be fired at you, making mainly Gordon Brown very happy. Shame it doesn't stay like that. But sometimes you have to separate fact from fiction, and this is certainly a story to be taken with a pinch of salt!

Don't be too hasty. The figure sounds very high to me, but it is distinctly possible to earn these sorts of figures in Thomsonfly.

We have a scheme called Flexible Working which enables pilots to offer Days Off back for sale to the company. If used a Captain gets £525 before tax. If the duty encroaches in any way into a second Day Off then this triggers a double payment. When a longhaul trip has been crewed using a Flexi Working pilot it is not unheard of for a week trip to trigger more than 7 flexi payments.

In my first month as a captain I was paid 8 x Flexible Working payments on top of Duty Pay and Salary for the month. I didn't earn as much as quoted in the original post, but it wasn't that far off either. The company still saves millions as it means that they don't have to sub charter anywhere near as many flights as before Flexi Working, so its a win, win.

So are RYR pilots still the best paid in Europe?;) :p

I know time to command has been reduced significantly on the gypsy fleet but it's still a bit longer than 2 years for us chav's ;)

Anyway, original story sounds like rubbbish, said FO would either have had to sell something like 30days back, received his FO promotion all in one paypacket or the Hajj allowances and bonus all in one go - none of which is very likely.

I work for Britannia as a 10 year FO and made a mere £4000 before tax this month. Mind you, I've been on leave for 27 days.:D

Lowest I've ever got was £864 AFTER tax.:sad:

FO flexi pay is about £357 before tax per day. Can't see that it would be possible for FOs to get £16500 without some sort of back-dated pay coming into it.

We all got paid our Hajj bonus and the extras that went with it last month. I wont divulge how much my pay packet was.;) I suppose its possible if they were a Captain but not a 2 year F/O.

Thomsonfly line skipper just under twenty years service on the 75/76 at one of the major bases typical monthly take home £4500 best ever just over £5000.I generally avoid flexi (days off working) and never take part in the hajj operation.Don,t seem to get many days off but also don,t fly very much as the rostering is a joke typically 3 days work for one days flying out of a minor base.I,m an expert at Hallmark taxis and airline positioning.Longhaul is the best way to avoid hassle.Flew under 500 hours last year but worked very hard lots of inefficiences which are typical of a multi base charter operation.What flying I got was very interesting though,in one calendar month recently I flew in every continent of the world except Antarctica,that sort of flying is hard to find with many airlines.Company is an organisational nightmare,lots of crisis management/firefighting overstretched support staff cut to the bare bones .

You have to be kidding right? Payroll must have your pay point wrong, a mate of mine is an 8 year Skipper on the 737 and he nets way more than that and is looking for a pay rise.

Airline Captains earning less than £100 000 per year is criminal. The risk, etc. I have invested in persuing (paying for) this career, I aspire to earn a decant wage when I get to the LHS.

Pilots open your eyes! Wake up BALPA currently we have average pay and a **** life style at easyJet and its draging the industry down. The storm is coming...not soon enough.

Ah my experience of airline pilots is that they like to have the "best job" they,ll always tell you about the exceptional pay cheque never the poor one.The rumour network gets hold of the high figure and extrapolates it into an absurd figure.Those figures I mentioned involved a small amount of days off working ,standard but not extra pension contributions and all allowances ,duty/sector pay etc.Final earnings for last year were a tadge under £100k but then the nice Mr Brown likes his share.Lifestyle and interesting flying are all important to me don,t believe all the bar talk heard about take home pay.I do know however that the top paid pilot in BY earnt over £150K last year but he sold his soul (and days off) to the company;)

Well said. I'm fed up with Hallmark cars and dingey little hotels while the company get round block window and flex working by keeping us away from base as long as posible.

As for the money, I'm using it to hire cars so I can get home between W patterns.

I'm working, although I am also looking for a new job, and I wouldnt be able to survive on 18k ;)

I have flown for less though, but it was a long time ago.
