Last week - falling asleep due to too many hours
This week - not enough pay due to lack of hours Jinkster Thats exactly the point. You had guys last year flying 100 hours (+/-) a month for 9 -10 months and then being unavailable to fly for the rest of the year as they were maxed out in terms of the annual (900hr) limit. So you had guys flying exhausted and burnt out and then having three months off and not earning a steady income. This is were the FTLs are an ass. A long haul pilot taking off from London flying to East Coast America does the same block time as a RYR pilot doing 4 sectors with a 25 min turnaround in the middle. Which do you think is harder? Yet the FTLs make no allowances for these differences. |
FR Bonding pilots
Hi guys,
Just a quick one, not sure if this has been posted on here. Couldnt find anyting in the search. Are Ryanair still making people who join with over 1500hrs pay for their rating or are they being bonded. Cheers JB10 |
Captain or F/O? Seems to make all the difference in FR.
|
They will bond you if you are rated on on JAR25 aircraft bigger than a E145 otherwise you will still have to pay for your rating!!
Don't know why this is???? Seems that they are missing out on a lot of guy's by employing this restriction!!! HFS:cool: |
Without wishing to hijack this thread, I did have a question along similar lines. I am 737 3-900 rated with >500 hours on type. I see from the recruitment pages aplicable to me that they bond non NG rated recruits for 5 years. I am aware that technically my license qualifies me NG and indeed a couple of years ago, I undertook a 2 day NG diffs course. At the time, I was told that FR did not recognise this and I would need to do a full rating. I must emphasise that this was not from the horses mouth, but had heard it from multiple sources. Obviousely, I appreciate that I would need some conversion training, but would like to know what FR consider as NG rated. It would seem to me somewhat steep to do a short diffs course coming from a 300 that I fly now and then be bonded for 5 years. On that point, would anyone know the value of the bond and whether it decreases on a pro-rata basis? Thank's in advance for any replies and appologies to JB10 for higacking the thread, but maybe may answer some more quetions that you may have had too.

Sorry to add another reply, but it would not let me edit for some reason, ket logging me out. Anyway, I just wanted to qualify that my uncertainty is because the FR site states that you are not considered NG rated if you are 1,2,3,4 or 500 rated. Now I fly the 300 but am rated 3-900, that is my uncertainty. I presume they will wat something to do the diffs course if they do consider me NG rated but there is no mention of that. Cheers

@ harves
If it's on your licence, you're rated. It's a simple as that. Cheers JB |
Thank's for the reply JB. I thought that was the case, but you understand the reason for my question was that I have never found anything involving FR simple.;)

Unless anything has changed from last year, they do not consider the licence as NG rated. Their requirement to be NG rated is to have NG time under your belt. This came directly from their recruitment team. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but hope this helps. |
It does indeed Jet2 thank's. As you probably infered from my previous posts, I did have the gut feeling that that would be the case. I have to say, I find that a ludicrous scenario. I accept by all means some kind of bond for Diffs training and initial sym check etc, but 5 years!!!! The compay I am with only bonds for 3 years for a full type rating. Would be very interested to know the value of the bond if only for interests sake.
Thank's again. |
Of course they would say that actual NG time is required, although no such thing is mentioned on their site. It clearly states that if you are NG rated, no bond applies. It also states that B737-300/400 pilots will be bonded. If they become short of FO's, all restrictions will disapear. This is the way FR operates.

Indeed Coppi and this is where the confusion arrises. When they "clearly" state that there is no bond for NG rated pilots, but there is for 300 pilots etc.
Now, if I were asked if I was NG rated, I would say yes based on what I read on my CAA issued license (3-900)hence I would expect no bond. Equally if I were asked if I flew the 300 I would say yes, hence a bond. As I said earlier, I do not object to some kind of small bond for SOP training and diffs etc, indeed my own company required £5K over 1 year, but 5 years for training that by no means amounts to a type rating is surely way too steep and I would still love to know the value of the bond. Maybe I am missreading it, but it seems I am not alone in my confusion of their website statement. Anyway, as you said Coppi, I am sure it is very flexible depending on demand. Cheers |
ryr bond
The current bond is 25k,decreasing over 5 years.

WOW...so a full type rating bond even though our licenses say that we already have it...what can one say!!

Ryanair Book!
Before anyone joins said airline they should read the book "RYANAIR How a small Irish airline conquered Europe". Writen by Siobhan Creaton. Published by Aurum.
Very Interesting and it even mentions this site and how Mr OLeary pays a visit every now and then!!!! :oh: |
