Jet Airways India pilots express protest by wearing black bands/ ribbons on 19 feb

Jet & shara airlines marriage has disturbed everyone except management who are busy trying to break the society of pilots formed for their welfare & who are as yet not unionised like Indian airlines or Air India

over looking normal recruitment procedures and the seniority of existing pilots , jet is pushing the issue to a crisis.
as a token protest to show solidarity jet airways pilots are to wear a black ribbon / arm band on 19 feb while carrying out their rostered duties

I hope the black band makes a fashion statement. But wait!... if the uniforms are black who is going to see the black band?

electricjetjock 19th Feb 2006 12:04

Perhaps they will wear it on their shirt sleeves?????:D

FED EX pilots are wearing their hats as a form of solidarity during their contract negotiations. Since FED EX has issued and Jet has issues... maybe the two groups can agree on a mode of dress that really will make a fashion statement:rolleyes:

Hairy Chest 20th Feb 2006 15:43

fashion and pilots in the same sentence ????

Back to the Jet Airways thread; They are recruiting via various agencies for contract captains. Would someone please expand on the in-house problems, and what effect these ex-pat pilots might have on the issue, either +ve or
-ve. Equally, what reception ex-pat pilots might expect.

Jet_Settin 21st Feb 2006 03:58

As far as the Ex-pats go....there arent any problems as such....
I think at the last count we had bout 80 odd expats working with us
(340 & 737 included)....

The expats dont affect any of the Jet pilots as such cos they are on contract....them being there also does not affect anyone's seniority....
the way we are expanding....all F/o's eligible for command upgrade will get their command.......infact command upgrades are taking place regularly...

The in-house conditions are good if not the best....as far as the expats go....they get good money....stay in a 5 star hotel....the flyings good.....
Our planes are pretty much new....and Jet's overall a professionally run outfit....

The problem is with the Sahara guys joining us.....cos the managements promising them all sorts of things which are basicallly against company policy.

There's a reason why these policies exist.
