Airline Orientatoin Training
 

Hello all,

Just PVR'd from the RAF and have a BA interview soon (8 March). Was wondering if any Ppruners have any experience with AOT Ltd before I part with my hard earned cash. Bear in mind, I had my last interview aged 18 and I'm fairly institutionalised!

So then, I'd love to hear from anyone who has had any dealings with AOT and if it stood them in good stead for their interviews.

High, as part of my training we did the AOT weekend and it was probably one of the best parts of the course, you can't afford to miss it. Allthough looking at your previous career you may find most of it common sense but it would still be worth it. 2 Days, around 5 experienced Captains or senior cabin with a wealth of experience and no bull! They go through personal presentations, problem solving in a team, interviews and the market in general. If you are ex RAF comission then you should have done a lot of it before but it is perfect for the cross over into civy life.

I was in the RAF and attended AOT before my BA selection. I found it invaluable preparation as it got me back in to the right mindset and I was able to prepare effectively. I was recommended this cse by others who attended it and have recommended it to others. Those people have joined BA and Virgin since.

Also did the AOT Training aswell...very good. Very friendly bunch of people and very knowledgabe. Some TREs there for interview questions and prep etc.

Very highly recommended and if your a BALPA member i think there is a discount.

Don't the airlines that hire you do this AOTish stuff as a part of their indoc ? Why would anyone have to seek this training on their own ? My career employer took in people from a variety of backgrounds...sat them in class and TOLD them what the company considered priorities/operational concepts.

Each company has operational concepts/values/priorities they consider pivotal to their operation. THEY tell you what THEY consider important.

Is any company is going to place ANY value to some generic version of AOT ?

you tw*t. AOT is an interview + recruitment prep company to get you the job in the first place.

You seem to be suggesting that an airline, after recruiting you, will sit you down and tell you how to get the job (which they've just given you!!!!)

For the record, I think AOT are very good indeed though, with Goldcup's background, I would recommend a 1 on 1 prep session rather than the weekend course. Costs about the same but it concentrates more on the bits you're missing as an ex mil guy.

Well, then I'm a twit ( thank you very much for the name calling...quite mature ) who didn't know "airline orientation training" was a company. A program involving sitting down with 5 senior captains and cabin staff to educate people in airline operating policies/concepts would seem to be a move more associated with operational concerns than getting the job in the first place.

In fact, airlines do sit one down after hiring them and explain how THAT AIRLINE wants one to do the job for which they were just hired because each company will differ somewhat. It's called Newhire Indoctrination.

Sorry I offended you ( apparently, it doesn't take much ). I stand humbly corrected.
