Breaking News!! easyJet lowers entry requirements!

Hi all,

Im not sure if this has been covered already......

easyjet has now drastically lowered its entry requirements from 1500 to just 500 hrs. However the best bit is that it says it will still excercise discretion on total hours so therefore everyone is in for a chance.

check out this link...

Good Luck......

I think that was breaking news about 6 weeks ago. No use to most of us browsing here.

Sorry to burst the bubble,

I think you will find that 500hrs is significantly different from 500hrs multi crew commercial time (airline or multi crew operation). As well as that if your 500hrs are not jet time then they are factorised by a factor of 0.6/0.8 etc depending on what type of time it is.

Doesnt hide the basic fact that the entry requirements are reducing though. Maybe in the future as supply and demand trends change they may reduce again. Best of luck for all the Job Hunting

My sources tell me the 500 multi-crew time are absolutely non-negotiable minima.

But as the previous post intimates, things can change - either way unfortunately!

All hours requirements can and do change. The market is in constant flux, and the requirements are directly related to the numbers of positions to be filled versus the number of potential candidates.

The only way to keep on top of the requirements is to regularly check with the employers you're interested in.

What are you boys on about, I applied last year for the DEC position advertised online with 11,000 hrs heavy 4 engine time, heavy 2 engine time and a load of other time including A320 (5000hrs) and these jockers didn't even grace me with a reply. I think they need to sort out their HR department before they can hope to attract anyone with more than 500hrs.

I fully understand that A340Jock would feel offended at not being called, but his position is slightly different to that of you other guys. He is applying for a DEC which is a different 'pool' of applicants so he is not your direct competition. EasyJet have recently interviewed many possible DECs who all have the hours and I understand that several have been offered jobs (very contraversial - but that's another story!). Once you have the required hours to be a DEC, it frankly does not matter how many hours in excess of the minimum you have - there is not some invisible 'pecking order' based on total time. They will then look at your online replies and if they do not like what they see then they will not call you forward - hard rules but that is the way it is.

Regarding the minimum hours, what has happened is simply a reflection of supply and demand. There is just not the supply of suitable pilots out there with the requesite experience for the FO positons available so easyJet have had to lower their requirements. We take the CTC 200 hour guys who are effectively pre-selected but other than that I am not aware of any pilots being taken on at the moment without the 500 hours multi-crew. Nonetheless, this is good news for all job hunters and I hope you all manage to get your foot on the ladder soon. We were all there once and it is probably the most difficult period of your flying career waiting to get a job. Best of luck to you all.

Perhaps the muppets at Orange Land would find that if they scrapped the Type Rating Sponsorship Scam, they wouldn't have such a shortage of applicants.
