Flybe Ops Director Pushed
 

Well I told you so! The Knight has been pushed out. All responsibilities have been taken away except that of safety. No more a director and share allocation has dramatically been reduced.

20 resignations in one month. A further lot expected for October. It was inevitable that this should happen but I think most people knew his time had come. When Pilots are thin on the ground it is idiotic to do what this man has done. You cannot play the game he has been playing and get away with it. Anoy staff the way he has and they walk. Now he walks. Goodbye.

Nope, I'm guessing one of our newly-departed Ops Directors' squadron buddies will get the nod.

Surely, though, MW was supposed to be retiring about now in any case? Maybe he was hoping to hang around forever, like the late, unlamented turboprop training boss!

No I haven't asked him. Why do I need to? If you read the official announcement to companies house all the information is there.

This news is over a week old and I thought it was common knowledge in Flybe that he had lost most of his responsibilities.

Do you know a director with no responsibilities and no secretary?? As far as I am aware he will be in charge of FDM and that is it until he retires.

Well, last time I saw him, he told me he had less than two years to go to retirement, and that was more than two years ago... so...

Maybe he has stepped down from some roles in preparation for his final few months? People in his position are rarely just "downgraded", if the board wants to bin them, they are walked to their desk, pick up their stuff and are escorted from the building (or some variation of that).

Did all this happen while you were "in" work, or on one of your multiple "sick" days!

I might take some "extra" days off to be with my family (they are more important than work) but if you compare my sickness level to the previous ops directors sickness level you will find he has had more time off than moi.

As for when I first heard it, was on 5 October when the notice was issued. Oh, I was on a day off but I did have a sick day immediately after that because I was told if I work 6 days I will get 3 days off and as I was only rostered 2 I took an extra day.

I think that was only reasonable as I have given up a week and a halfs holiday at the request of the old ops director.

I believe that the Flight Ops Director remains just that. He has not been got rid of and he still remains the CAA post holder. What has happened is that he has been removed from the board (as have two other directors) and given a new reporting path so he now reports to another director rather than the CEO. He has not gone yet! Oh and he continues to have a secretary!

Steady on guys and girls there is no need for backstabbing after all we are all human and the said person has had to do a very difficult job in very turbulent times. You must admit that at times decisions had to be made by him which were the lessor of the two evils. The aviation business is very volatile and trying to achieve some form of stability is not easy. I believe he did his best in those circumstances.

Chris is right. He still remains your Ops Director.
