Further advert in FLIGHT this week for direct entry captains based Belfast/Glasgow/Edinburgh.

Any idea as to how many more crews they are looking for?

:ok:

er82 27th Jun 2005 20:29

Lots....

So the rumour goes, if no-one leaves, they'll need to take on 10 pilots a month for the next 4-5 years to cover the recent losses, and the new 20-odd Dahes that are on their way.

Don Darby told me last week that they need 7 captains at those bases.
Hope it goes well

Thats really interesting! I applied for that company a couple of weeks ago, got a letter saying "Looks very good, so email all your info to D.D". After that nothing happend.

Do I have to know any sort of secret passage to the company, or just sit and wait for a new message?

Anyone know anything more?

CosmosSchwartz 19th Jul 2005 14:54

er82 - That's 600 new pilots! Is that right?

Dirty Mach 21st Jul 2005 19:55

er 82 -If No-one leaves???!!! :\ :} ;) :D :E :E :E

er82 24th Jul 2005 18:53

Well, they'll have 40 Dashes, and probably about 20 Embraers at the end of it. That's 60 a/c, and don't you normally assumer 5 crews per a/c? So ok, I got it wrong about if no-one leaves. Maybe they realise most of those still at FlyBE WILL leave, so they need to take on 600 total!!

Jinkster 24th Jul 2005 19:54

ER82,

Will that include low houred pilots aswell (250ish) - recieved a letter saying no recruitment last week :{

Megaton 24th Jul 2005 21:32

You can have my job... :)

Ham,

Appreciate your candor regarding Flybe. What about Flybe beyond the typical "low pay" concerns are there for you? What are the negatives specific to Flybe in your case?

Seems like pilots at all of the LCCs are having the same issues - pay is too low, they are exhausted from a mixture of too many earlies and too many lates, not enough days off... Are Flybe pilots being misled when they join or are the expectations too high that nobody is happy?

Jinkster 25th Jul 2005 18:12

Ham Phisted,

If your thinking about selling your job on Ebay - I'll pay a tenner!!!

Megaton 25th Jul 2005 21:39

I think the bidding will start lower than a tenner. Caveat emptor. Sold as seen!
