Cargolux Interview

Hi everybody,

I already posted stuff concerning the Cargolux interview.
Has anybody some new information of this IBF selection process in Saarlouis???
What's actually the best way to prepare for such a test (books,software,etc..)???
I really appreciate any information!!!

Thanks a lot in advance...

greetings

Hello ADIRS, I've got an appointment too, in february 2005 !
But with Parc... as i know, the first interview at Sarrelouis, is only psychotests on a computer...during 6 hours... and if it's ok you have an other interview, with the chief pilot of Cargolux.
However, you have to pay your type rating 32000€ at Parc, and it's for a one year contract.....

ADIRS 23rd Jan 2005 21:31

Hi Starlite,

at first, thanks a lot for your reply. Actually I am not familiar with the way via parc.
Did you send your application to Cargolux or to parc (or even both). I didn't know they hire via parc aviation once again.
As far as I know they are presently performing own screenings and offer unrestricted contracts...do you know more about that???

Thanks...

starlite 24th Jan 2005 08:34

I send my first application at Parc, then they transmitted my application at Cargolux.

Few weeks later I received the Cargolux application to fill and to return to them.

But, I received a first letter, in December 2004, in order to inform me that there was no vacancie at that time, and that my CV was retain for 12 months !!

And, 2 weeks ago, Cargolux phoned me, and invited me for the assessment...

So I don't know if it still by Parc or not...

And for this assessment, at Sarrelouis, I am invited the third february 2005....It's a long day of psychometrics tests, and a personnality test with a short interview with the psy.

And if it's OK, you have an interview, few days later, with the Cargolux chief pilot.

wince 24th Jan 2005 12:55

I think you are also forgetting the medical

starlite 24th Jan 2005 15:06

Yes Wince, there is a medical check-up !!!

ADIRS 24th Jan 2005 15:40

Ok, now I have an idea how it works via parc.
I heard in former posts it's a standard medical check up...shouldn't be a big deal for an normal pilot (hopefully).
But do you have more detailed information about the tests...are there certain books or do you know about software and stuff?

I just had a look around for the standard aptitude tests you can find in every bookstore. but I think there will be a couple of more tests on the computer, right?

Anyway, already thanks for your reply!!

starlite 24th Jan 2005 16:03

ADIRS, I catch some informations about the assessment,

it start with a medical check up, then, a personnality test (300 questions from the californian institute),
and then with psychometrics tests on computer...and there is no books or software like that on the net !

And you finish with an interview...

good luck !!! I take this "exam" the 3rd february...

wince 24th Jan 2005 16:18

The computer tests are memory, multitasking, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination (joystick and rudder pedals)

ADIRS 24th Jan 2005 17:18

@Starlite
-Good luck then with your interview in February!!! Thanks again man, It defenitely helps to know in general what to expect at such a day, regardless if there is special prepware or similar stuff.
It'd be great if you post a feedback after your interview, or just send an email to "[email protected]". I'd really appreciate any help!!!

Hi wince, have you already been there?

wince 25th Jan 2005 08:09

ADIRS

I was there for a Luxair interview. As I understand the tests are very similar.

Hi everyone,

You are all talking about the Saarlouis tests..
But what about the interview with the Chief Pilot? what are the subjects, is it a technical interview or a presentation of the airline and a chat to discover the candidate's motivations?

DTYSAPCO 25th Jan 2005 19:52

Can I ask what type of experience cargolux are looking for?

Thanks,

DTYsapco

Whats the crack? How do I get an interview? Do I have to apply via Parc? Is comuting possible?

starlite 26th Jan 2005 08:13

Cargolux mini requirements are :

3 000 Hrs total
2 000 on jet > 22 000 Kg
JAA ATPL
Medical class 1

concordino 26th Jan 2005 09:01

Why would someone with over 2000 hrs on jets above 22 tons MTOW expose themselves to such a sour deal

The market is on the rise and anyone with such experience might find a better deal flying the same equipment.

starlite 7th Feb 2005 08:40

Hello ADIRS, I'm back from Sarrlouis !!
So, I give you some infos about this assessment! I arrived the day before, Cargolux paid for the hotel, nice room!!! and I was invited at 8h00.
This assessment started by a medical check, like your class 1 medical, then by the Psychometrics tests.
All these tests are on a computer, there are a lot of different tests, and it would be very difficult to train on them!!
But, it's very long, six hours with short pauses.
And I finished with an interview with the psychologist.
Everybody was very friendly...
Now, I'm waiting for the Cargolux's answer, I don't know if the assessment was positive or not...the psychologist sent my results and his opinion about me to Cargolux...
If it's OK, I will be invited for an other interview with the Cargolux's chief pilot...
I hope it will be OK....I just have to wait one or two weeks, according to the psychologist!!

Good luck for you!!

ADIRS 9th Feb 2005 21:29

Hope you get the interview...
Wish you good luck and hope for the best!!

Thanks again.

What's the likelihood that you would stay on with Cargolux AFTER the one year stipulated by your contract? What do you need to do to stay there? How much flight time are you guaranteed for that one year (for the cash that you paid)?

I hear the 400 is a great airplane to fly - and flying for Cargolux would allow you to see the world. But I also hear those pilots fly A LOT - good luck!
