Thomas Cook Airbus Fleet Info

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what life is like on the Airbus fleet with Thomas Cook? Do you fly both the A320 & A330? If so is this done on a seniority basis? Do you bid for Routes or is it all allocated. Does the Airbus fly to the same Destinations as the Boeing 757, or does it have it's own routes. Any Info would be most appreciated, by PM if you want.

I have been offered a Job with TCX on the Airbus, so just trying to find out as much as possible. Thanks in Advance.

Wow - great job on the job offer. I have been wondering the same thing about the A320 and A330 - cross-qualification.

Do you mind telling us about your experience to date - do you have Airbus time? What bases are open to newhires? Many of us hope to be in your shoes in the near future.

Cheers

You work less on the Airbus than you will on the Boeing traditionally.

Around 70 hours per month in summer, 30 in Winter.

Work is allocated by roster. No bidding.

There may be Mixed fleet flying again in 2005, however to qualify you would need to be based at MAN or LGW. Airbus A320 pilots at STN,EMA and any other stations do NOT fly the A330.

Any MFF would be purely on seniority and recency. I believe.

You will be joining a long seniority list at about number 350, where your command will be at least 8 - 10 years away and where the A330 will not come your way for probably 3 or more years.

I like TC, it ain't the best airline, but it ain't the worst.

Anyhow, must dash, I am off to Lanzarote. Again. After all it IS Thursday!

reac,

Congrats, you will enjoy it. Wheelbarrow has said it all really. What base have you been offered ?

Hi all,

Thanks for the Info Wheelbarrow, Looking forward to it. I have been given a Manchester base, this is obviously subject to internal movement (don't want to step on any toes). The recruitment chap said Most likely Airbus possibly boeing.

My experience to date is Regional/European Turboprop then Jet with about 2600hrs Total. Tried Applying to TCX last march but missed the boat, got in this time.

Looking forward to working with the crews, I chat on the bus to work occasionally, seems like a friendly company (with the usual gripes of course).

Good luck to all those applying, my best wishes.

A320 MAN is a single a/c base at the moment - you'll enjoy it; nice stable lifestyle !

Number 7,

Care to elaborate? Could TCX be getting more 757s from Condor?

Someone else stated that the Boeing fleet seems to be busier than the Airbus fleet. So, could one infer that it is better to be on the Airbus fleet?

Anyone flown both aircraft at TCX? Which fleet is better and why?

wheelbarrow 4th Dec 2004 18:29

Yes,

i have flown 757 and now fly the the A320. Both for TCX.

Airbus is a much more stable fleet. Less hassle and less roster disruption.
