BMI Transatlantic Layovers

How long are the layovers on BMI's transatlantic routes?

What will the layovers be like on their Caribbean and Las Vegas routes when they start them?

Cheers again!

BWB

24 hours on US routes (apart from 48 on Monday IAD)

24 hours on Caribbean routes (one 48 hour stop, I think)

Why? You joining bmi straight onto the 330 fleet?! ;)

It's a possibility...I'm just weighing up the options!

Is a 24 hour layover common on east coast transatlantic routes?

Yes, for all operators.

Olympic use to be 36 hours for ALL long range flights, but they brought it back down to 24 hours....

Vegas layovers will be 48 hours (Sun & Tues) or 72 hours (Thurs). They're the longest layovers purely because of the schedule.

It's a possibility...
No it's not.

Max Angle,

Not meaning to be rude...but it is! ;)

Before Max has a coronary......

It is possible to join the bmi A330 fleet directly as cabin crew..

and breathe..............!

CTB

Well I don't suppose someone whose profile says they have an ATPL, is rated on the 319/320/321 and is a commercial pilot is going to want to join as cabin crew but who knows. bmi mainline hasn't hired a single pilot for three years and is not going to be starting just yet. Quite a lot of A330 FO's are due to leave when the Virgin and BA holding pools start to move so it's possible they may need some type rated contract FO's to fill in but thats about it I think.

Apologies to Max and BWB -didn't check the profile and got the wrong end of the stick!

CTB

No worries CTB, the wrong end of the stick is exactly what BWB has got hold of if he thinks he is going to get a pilots job with bmi and go straight on to 330. Someone has fed him some very duff gen. if he thinks it's even a possibility.

Max Angle, before they hire off the street they have to consider bmi regional embraer guys first- it's in the MOA.

Max Angle 3rd Oct 2004 14:51

Yeah, it's really time there was some movement. It would be nice to get more regional guys into mainline, jet rated and a known quantity, should be exactly what the company wants.

srjumbo 10th Oct 2004 11:56

You wouldn't want BWB working for you as he's the guy who was upgraded on a flight recently and posted a question on flight deck jump seat policy, whiter than white eh?
