Air Atlanta 747-400 FO pay

Fellow AAI pilots,

I heard a good rumour that Jerry O' @&#%* was overheard offering qualified 747-400 FO's $230 daily in order to get them to accept AAI's lousy contract scheme at all. That rate is over 30% more than a Classic FO makes and almost as much as a Classic captain makes ($250)! Does anyone know whether that rumour is accurate??? :uhoh:

Cheers

Jsmitty 10th Jun 2004 23:25

$230 per HOUR i hope you mean??

planemad 10th Jun 2004 23:28

was overheard ...

For God sake grow up. In true Pprune style do not let the facts get in the way of a good story!

Fact 1 $233 per day (why not apply and get the job spec. from
Jerry O' @&#%*)

Fact 2 Courses full, no shortage.

Fact 3 4 pilots from the current B747 fleet are on courses.

1 Dot High why do you not give your first name followed by @&#%* .

Cheap Shots by sad pilot maybe!

Dogma 10th Jun 2004 23:46

$233 dollars a day!!!!!!

Thats below the bread line is it not?

Is that on top of basic+ loss of licence, health care, pension, Death in service, medicals, uniform, allowances???

viking737 11th Jun 2004 01:08

$230 a day is sbout the going rate for a light twin pilot.
How anyone can get away with it for a B747 is incredible!

Digitalis 11th Jun 2004 08:11

By my calculation, $233 a day is $85,045 a year (assuming it's paid as basic salary), which compares very well with any European major airline. If it's only paid per duty day, it may be as little as half of that, which is a bit mean even by European standards.

You guys in the US of A don't realise how much you get paid relative to the rest of the world! $230 a day for a light twin?! You don't know you're born..... In UK you'd be lucky to get a quarter of that.

Kopeloi 11th Jun 2004 08:14

There is a lot of 747 Classic pilots that do it much less ( $175). Some of us still seem to live the head in clouds.... If there is no better paying jobs what should you do?

Dogma 11th Jun 2004 14:22

I know 747 Classic pliots in Africa, flying freight, whom are on US$15 000 a month, tax free.

Even US$85 000 a year is peanuts.

US$85000 is not peanuts its just you are used to being very highly paid, some of the new operators work on a tight budget and cant afford to pay what the majors do,saying that most of the majors cant afford to pay what they do now either.

I agree its not that much when your used to seeing pilots well paid, however why should a pilot get loads more dosh to fly a big plane rather than a small one? it doesnt read across to any other parts of industry, certainly engineers dont get paid extra for the responsibility of system and critical airworthiness control on big ships to small ones, why should a pilot be different?

747fanatic 11th Jun 2004 16:26

Dogma,
which airline in africa are you reffering too??

Whiskery 12th Jun 2004 02:29

Air Atlanta has never had a reputation for being big payers but you must look at the complete package.

It's a good Company, the bases are great and the aircraft are well maintained. Pay is always on time and have never had a problem getting home when I want to.

Dogma I too would like to know the Company you are referring to that pays USD15,000 a month in Africa.

Kopeloi 12th Jun 2004 09:45

Dogma

I bet that Dogma will never come back with such info. There is no such company in Africa....
Kopeloi

The African Dude 12th Jun 2004 10:35

In the most expensive areas of Africa $15000 equates to about half a years salary for those fortunate to be in work AND getting the average.

I find it hard to believe that SAA would pay more than double that average, let alone a freight airline.

Dogma, if this is hard to believe for you too, then I put it you that Africa is a very different country and that you may want to recheck your figures. Maybe you added a zero in the exchange rate?

Atlanta-Driver 12th Jun 2004 11:14

15k a month

Come on man... Let me in on your little secret, I promise not to tell anyone what that company is:} :E :}

But perhaps Dogma is talking about Zim-dollars????

Dogma 12th Jun 2004 17:04

OK it's based in Ghana.

But has crews that are all-reflective.

db767 13th Jun 2004 13:21

Yes very good Dogma. Ghana is indeed in Africa. Are you going to elighten us with any more information? Like answering the original question of WHO ARE THEY?

By the way what do you mean when you say "But has crews that are all-reflective"?

redsnail 13th Jun 2004 14:21

It's a description of the colour of the skin.....
What colour reflects light best?
What colour doesn't...

Comical Ali 13th Jun 2004 15:14

Dogma,
There is no 747 operator based in entire Ghana!
You must mistaken for some other continent!

Dogma 13th Jun 2004 16:34

It's the indomitable lions of MK Airlines of course.

Sheeeshh..... I gave you enough clues!

Very good Redsnail you've been around the block obviously.
