Air Atlanta 747-400 FO pay
 

Fellow AAI pilots,

I heard a good rumour that Jerry O' @&#%* was overheard offering qualified 747-400 FO's $230 daily in order to get them to accept AAI's lousy contract scheme at all. That rate is over 30% more than a Classic FO makes and almost as much as a Classic captain makes ($250)! Does anyone know whether that rumour is accurate??? :uhoh:

Is that on top of basic+ loss of licence, health care, pension, Death in service, medicals, uniform, allowances???

How anyone can get away with it for a B747 is incredible!

By my calculation, $233 a day is $85,045 a year (assuming it's paid as basic salary), which compares very well with any European major airline. If it's only paid per duty day, it may be as little as half of that, which is a bit mean even by European standards.

You guys in the US of A don't realise how much you get paid relative to the rest of the world! $230 a day for a light twin?! You don't know you're born..... In UK you'd be lucky to get a quarter of that.

There is a lot of 747 Classic pilots that do it much less ( $175). Some of us still seem to live the head in clouds.... If there is no better paying jobs what should you do?

I know 747 Classic pliots in Africa, flying freight, whom are on US$15 000 a month, tax free.

Even US$85 000 a year is peanuts.

US$85000 is not peanuts its just you are used to being very highly paid,some of the new operators work on a tight budget and cant afford to pay what the majors do,saying that most of the majors cant afford to pay what they do now either.

I agree its not that much when your used to seeing pilots well paid,however why should a pilot get loads more dosh to fly a big plane rather than a small one? it doesnt read across to any other parts of industry,certainly engineers dont get paid extra for the responsibility of system and critical airworthiness control on big ships to small ones,why should a pilot be different?

Air Atlanta has never had a reputation for being big payers but you must look at the complete package.

It's a good Company, the bases are great and the aircraft are well maintained. Pay is always on time and have never had a problem getting home when I want to.

Dogma I too would like to know the Company you are referring to that pays USD15,000 a month in Africa. :confused:

In the most expensive areas of Africa $15000 equates to about half a years salary for those fortunate to be in work AND getting the average.

I find it hard to believe that SAA would pay more than double that average, let alone a freight airline.

Dogma, if this is hard to believe for you too, then I put it you that Africa is a very different country and that you may want to recheck your figures. Maybe you added a zero in the exchange rate?
