Maybe the prospect of spending even more time at home with the wife fills him with fear.

Why worry? It's obviously an unsustainable position. Who can afford to work for nothing?

And it might just be a management troll.

Down here in oz pilots have been doing this in GA for 50 years that I know of and happy to fly overweight and unserviceable light aircraft. Then they move to the airlines and sneer about how lousy GA is, and it is , thanks to these twerps.

I just saw an ad from Rishworth for Vietnam Airlines. A320 LTC/TRI/TRE position, 400 usd basic plus 25 usd/hour after the 25th.

Why not, if a captain is ready to fly for nothing?

Sounds too good to be true, where can I sign up onto the waiting list?

On a serious note, does anyone think that this is actually sustainable? The cost of relocation to Vietnam, quite likely transferring your licence and medical, hiring accommodation, paying for transportation, food, amenities etc quickly adds up to an amount which you will never, ever recoup on this income. So, technically, you're going there to burn your savings instead of earning anything. P2F - TRI edition. And, unlike the clueless P2F blokes who sign onto almost similar schemes to get into the RHS, you're the one to go to jail if they screw up. Curious to know who will be desperate enough to take that.

Jobs like that in Asia right now are to meet some urgent but very very uncertain and short term need (those words are not contradictory in Asia).

The worrying thing is I don't think the bottom is anywhere near being reached. Terms and conditions still have a long, long way to fall.

Of course it's a typo. Not even a Vietnamese cabin crew could survive on $400 per month.

Perhaps they forgot to add a zero to the basic fee. And it would still be appalling.
