Jet2 Flight Deck Crew Home Bases
Hi fellow airmen.
I'd like to know if anyone can share information regarding which home bases are available for pilots at Jet2. I'm currently looking at the DEC options.

Quite a few Capts waiting for an internal transfer to BFS (some for a reasonable period of time), Slack handful for MAN too. I do hope they are re-located before DEC's pitch up!

Theres a number of experienced and qualified SFOs waiting for commands as well, not so wonderful to see lots of DEC recruitment whilst kicking ones' heels wondering if it is ever going to happen after waiting and waiting.....
And before you start on in, ask yourself how you would feel in a similar position or what your reaction would have been as people are slotted in above you.
Rant over.

Zed-
I believe that Jet2 have offered promotion to all internal candidates that have made the grade and have sufficient experience. This is an ongoing project and Jet2 have always preferred to upgrade their own ahead of "slotting people in above you" as you put it.
If you believe that you have been overlooked then perhaps you should be talking to your Base Manager to find out why rather than airing your dirty laundry here.

I disagree it is dirty laundry, rather the opposite; It is only fair to inform fellow pilots who are interested in joining the airline before they sign on the dotted line.
Surely Johnny you must be well aware that of the few internal candidates who managed to pass the command selection and command training most have been send away from their home base only to find out that Direct Entry Captains are filling the command positions in their home base.
It doesn't matter how loud the management team is screaming they rather upgrade their own fo's then take DEC's, the line pilots know better.

F/O upgrade
As someone who has had responsibility for upgrade training, I believe that there should only be a very small percentage of F/Os (2% to 3%) who cannot upgrade to Captain. If the percentage is significantly higher then either the airline should be looking at its training department and its management attitudes towards its employees or the HR department is hiring wrong people!
Proper training is to avoid failure.

I understand that the number that have completed the command development course to actually getting through to a command course is more like 85%.
Jet2 have ALWAYS tried to place people where they want to be, if you get an upgrade and have to move away, well that's where there is availability for you, I can only assume that a new recruit would be given a place based on where they have been told prior to an FO being offered their upgrade. Just the way the cookie crumbles.

Sorry Johnny, not strictly true as you know. Quite a few people were moved away from Base to a different base when finishing Command Trg, without having been notified prior to Command Trg as required by Company procedures. They then found that NTR DECs had been recruited to their home base. Understandably, those affected were NOT happy about this.

If I had known that I wouldn't have written what I did. All I can think of is instances in the past where different 737 variants has come into play.
Do Jet2 ever recruit new fATPL's without putting them through the apprentice scheme? Would they consider a 40 year old?
I am from the LBA area and would like to move back for a job at Jet2 but too old to go down the apprentice route I think.
