Before you worry about T&C's, I suggest you spend a couple of days in Addis first...........

I agree with reptile's comment. Addis is not for everone. But apart from that

Roster is a choice between 20 on/10 off or 25 on/12 off

787, Monthly: 9000 dollars basic + 1200 Dollars Per diem (fixed) + 1250 Dollars Housing. Basic and perdiem paid to a bank account of your choice. Housing paid into your bank account in Ethiopia.

+ a bonus of 5400 dollars (10%) every 6 months.

Overtime when flying more than 80 hours/month : 1/80 of your basic: 112 dollars/hour

They find people that like a commutable roster, and people that for one reason or another, arent interested in China. I guess But, they are really stretched for captains...and the low pay is the reason.

A number of airlines in KSA are now offering the same 20/10 for more money.

Although I'd definitely rather be in Addis than Riyadh!

Me too. 3 months in Jeddah last year was more than enough for me.

No tax paid in Ethiopia. ...
I started on B738, pay was less than the long haul guys but it was net, you might have to pay tax in your home country though depending on the tax laws.
MD80767 driver is right, I only lasted three weeks there....Addis not for everyone

Yes. ET will not hire from QR.
They state the QCAA licence is very low on flight safety index.
In fact outside of the ME almost no one will hire you on a QCAA licence alone.

Is that to say the time logged in 777 in qatar is not considered and/or only the type rating is not recognized? If one applies with 10k hours of hvy jet on faa atp logged prior to qr is it still not considered? Thanks for the info.

I know expat FO positions have only recently been open, but will Ethiopian upgrade expat FO's to Capt?

How is the roster out there? Always fancied working in Africa, but not as a permanent FO. I have quite a few hours on B777 & 787.

Thanks!

There is an agreement between Qatar and--, (Emirates, Ethiopian an [Indian carrier?" I fly?] And one from Algeria I believe) that does not allow hiring directly.
I believe it is one year between contracts before you can be hired at respective carriers.

Mutt, which airlines are you referring to? I'm searching for a good 20/10 but I didn't find anything in KSA....

Also, commuting time in ET is during days off or during the 20 on?

Thank you for your help.

Gigi777, It is on your days off. But, take me as an example. Im commuting to Europe. They will always book me on a late nighter to Europe, on my last day of work. So I'll be home in the morning on my first day off. Likewise on the way back to Addis: Im booked on a night flight from Europe on my last day off, arriving in Addis early morning on my first day of work. I'll then go to my hotel in Addis for rest. The earliest that they'll roster me for work, is on the evening of my first day of work. But of course, If you live 'really' far away from Addis....you will lose a lot of time off, to commuting. I couldnt/wouldnt do this if I lived in the Americas, far from an ET destination
