The requirements are changing.
People working there, have never seen so many advertisements, during the year to hire NTR F/O.
In an average of 2 month, requirements change.
The last one, English mandatory, Portuguese preferential.
Pilots are learning much more.
One of the good things that happened this year, with pilot union, is the compensation that, the company has to pay if you work in off-days or in leave-days.
Other is the company must compensate pilots, while they wet lease aircraft from other companies, to make TAP flights, like HIFLY is doing MPM,NAT,NAT and REC, EUROATLANTIC is doing CCS.

You forgot to mention that you have to pay 30.000€ for the a320 rating.

It is deducted from the salary.
New pilots don't pay it directly.
They will have a lower BASIC Salary. But in actual operational panorama, pilots are getting good cash at the end of the month.
Don't Forget that in Portugal, workers receive 14 salaries per year. 12 month*holliday Salary+Christmas Salary

How much does a TAP FO make monthly after tax?
Don’t forget that in Portugal you’ll pay over 40% tax...

Even with those taxes the cash is good.
They pay very good per-diems, you can save money during your staying.

Taxes are high. In Portugal half of
the salary is to pay the “ chulos” of the government.

But ok staring with 3500€ net in Portugal you live well. Don’t need to rent a house in Cascais or Sintra. There other neighborhoods places to live and nice ones.

If you need a credit it is easy, because pilots start their contract permanent, but the first 6 month are experimental.

€30.000 divided by 36 months is €833 a month.

Monthly salary €3500 minus €833 is €2667 for 3 years and you call that “good cash”?

Am I missing something here??? I know flight attendants who get paid more than that.

I just don’t understand why TAP as decided to charge for the TR, cause they’ve never done it before. People complain about Ryanair but then think it’s ok for a flag carrier to charge €30.000 for a TR.

This is a seniority based airline, and the first years a an junior FO.

Whilst I do not agree with seniority in the airline industry (I think it is outdated
and a legacy of the past) it does protect the current workforce employing DEC.

If this is net pay (after tax), it means a gross salary >5000EUR.
I doubt that cadets in most airline earn much more.

And you are not charged for the TR, but bonded - fair enough.

I agree with you with the outdated seniority.

In regards to the Type-Rating TAP charges €30.000 for it, deducted from you monthly salary.

sorry it never happened.
nobody hasn’t deducted directly from their salaries has you mentioned .

the basic salary initially is lower, but believe if you work on off days , extra duty you get good cash . 3500€ as I told you is a reference. Sometimes can be more.

Disappointing news, a legacy carrier should not be charging €30,000 for an A320 Type Rating when LCC are actually charging way less than that.
