Bizzario, complete nonsense!
Avenger... I'll look forward to your public apology when you do some research and find out it is indeed true. Maybe just new info, but I can assure you it's true.

Turkish license are not well seen in general..that is a known fact...
Wisepilot, this guy is a western expat from a reputable background and European Licence. He is in no way Turkish and does not have a Turkish licence. EASA all the way.

So you mean if you worked in Turkey you are not considered?

Not sure where this " rumour" is coming from, but I guess the ex THY foreign pilots that just left for Hainan got some sort of "get out of jail free pass"
Why would an EASA licence holder that has to get a HK ATPL be banned from working in China?

Rumour blown out of all proportion. A year ago, a single Chinese company did not recognize B738 PiC hours flown in Turkey towards their requirement for TRDECs, no matter whether one flew on SHGM or EASA licence. Maybe they still don't but if it's so, it's just company policy.

This is a decision made in the last few weeks. Nothing to do with the incident you're talking about.

Pardon my level 4 English but I didn't mention any incident and anyway pilots have still been leaving TC for China "last few weeks" so seemingly it's not CAAC policy to stop all transfers immediately - provided there is any truth in the rumour.

Clandestino, ok not the "Incident" but referring to your reference of PIC hours not being recognised. This case is completely different. Purely a ban on anyone that has been flying in Turkey.

It seems it is indeed from the CAAC, and if not it is from the regional Authority. Be very interested if any guys from Turkey (expats) from now on get approved.

The China ban was a rumour last year.
Aledgedly because of the problems China is experiencing with ethnic Turks.
Obviously anyone who has seen Turkey on a map will be in sympathy with them and thus will be banned from entry into China

PT6Driver, Incorrect.

This is a new development. If you re read the posts it happened in the last week. This is a new directive.

I should know, I just got accepted and then declined from the CAAC!! I was told this is not just Turkish Pilots but ALL expats who have worked in Turkey.

So be careful coming to Turkey guys if you ever think you would take a gig in China!!

20 thanks for the update on the new development.

It was somthing that was rumoured to be happening last summer as well.
The agencies of course denied that anything was amiss.

Sorry it has now come to this for real and I hope you find something else that suits.
Yet another escape hole closed up.

I'm not normally a guy who worries too much, but this is getting very worrisome. I was on the fence, but fear I need to get out. Not like I'm leaving a great salary behind!

Never seen anything like it. The distance between their self perception and reality is nearly pathological as is their innate frustrations driven chauvinism. I ran before loosing my health due to killer rostering and my sanity at risk in dealing with their disfunctions..as you called it. As someone said not expat friendly.

If they think they have the Duke of Gotham City on their side what chance does a mere mortal pilot have ?

New SHGM directive

Now pilots in Turkey are not allowed to change companies between April and August. This is a 'law' by the local CAA to prevent crews from changing operators during peak season. The Turkish pilot union (if one can call them 'union') doesn't do anything about it.

They don't do anything about it cause notwithstanding their apparent machismo they are sheep and many would not be allowed on a cockpit elsewhere. This is an evident violation of rights...Turkey is becoming Saudi Arabia..
