Turkish Airlines posts record net profit - BUSINESS

Quite time they start paying pilots and allow them to have some sort of life..or may be that's the way they make such profit ?

What's the notice period? Is it 2 months or 3?

... Time to go and earn real money rather than this local trash

Finally when I decided to quit they told me 56d...
Obviously again one of the several bad surprises THY makes to you specially when you have planned everything already with your next employer.

Don't expect to give the remaining day off to fill the gap...

Republic Airways: pilot shortage is the cause of bankruptcy - Airline news, Aviation news, Commercial news | AeroTime

Heard of THY Long haul FO refusing upgrades as they are planning to avoid slaver roster and planning to leave to other ME carriers. Heard also of people that got rejected being called back...you sow what you seed. ..

Paints a vastly different picture from the very rosy cosy self trumpeting TV adverts. It would seem there are 2 worlds; that in front of the flight deck door and that aft of it; perhaps only for those seated.

Is employment directly with THY or via contractor?

Cheers,

Is there any national Airline in Europe which you can join without speaking the national language (except THY)?

Just noticed this. THY pilot..sorry but Turkey is not Europe but Middle East. Seen the way things are going I doubt more and more it will ever be...

But looking at the geography: the main hub - IST - is located on the European part of the city/country.

@poldek77

Well IST(the part of the city that lies on the European continent) might be European. Even the city is nice(have been there couple of times), the general direction of this city is westerly(in terms of mindset). BUT it is a very, very, very small part of Turkey. And for sure THY is not having that mindset at the moment. Most likely they have to run lower on pilots till they start to think....

Regarding the language - of course, if you are dead desperate to man your aicraft the last thing is to think about turkish language. If that would be important to them then they would crew turks only. Simply not possible without a proper training academy, e.g. old LH style. No way to create enough pilots(especially experienced ones do not grow on trees, cadets yes) in so short time.

@alkor

Forget commuting if you talk narrow body. Exact the reason why I never went there. It seems the only nice contract is on the wide body like A330. Found once an advert in the net that actually had nice T's&C's (commuting, hotel paid in IST if there, etc.).

Sorry for hijacking the tread, but I need a medical certificate for my company in IST.

Can somebody point me to a doctor in the airport or atakoi/bakirkoy that can write me a medical certificate?

Thx

@Fullforward, his post was fully intelligible so it's just you being a knob I'm afraid.

@Stranotipo, what kind of medical certificate do you need? for a sick leave or for a aeromedical renewal?

Just heard from a friend that if you fly in Turkey, you will not be able to work for any Chinese Airline! Political it would seem?! This applies to all Pilots including expats.

What I meant is that while Istanbul and a small part of the country geographically lies in Europe politically and
culturally it does not. The mentality is let's say "levantine" , the attitude a tad excessively and proudly masculine and harsh and under too many aspects requires adaptation. Narrow body forget commuting and be prepared ...
