There will not be any Union in UK, is a company with people submissive, when we were fired in April our colleagues should organize theirselves and support us.
Nobody did anything... now if there is a second wave of people furloughed the rest will complain but nobody will have the b... to give one step up and stop WIZZSLAVE management.
definetly a place to avoid, is like Ryanair in the worst times multiplied by 4.

Hardly surprising, given that a sizable part of their market is off-limits for foreign travel, who knows for how long. Hungary is closed to foreigners, apart from a few limited cases, and their own nationals are also subject to restrictions. Last week the PM explicitly told the nation not to book any foreign holidays after 1 September. Something similar applies to Ukraine. Travel restrictions in Russia have postponed the opening of the new Saint Petersburg base. Travel restrictions and the resulting low demand have also delayed the expansion of the Belgrade base into 2021. Georgia is also off-limits until at least 30 September, but possibly for much longer as they extend the NOTAM month for month. Poland just banned flights to some destinations, including but not limited to Spain. The situation with quarantine-free travel to and from the UK remains highly uncertain, adversely affecting demand. And the list goes on and on.

With this state of affairs, it would be delusional to hope for any recruitment before 2021. Let's hope that at least there is no further retrenchment since running 60% of the pre-COVID capacity while having retained 81% of the pre-COVID workforce may also be seen as one in four people being surplus to the requirements at this stage. And the fear of new job losses is already getting very real, from what I'm hearing.

I can understand as only reason for people wanting to join WIZSLAVE The fact of “touch” the airplane to keep theirselves as much current as possible when the market open again.
But a part of that No way to join to the worst company in Europe.

the thing now is that by the time that they expect to expand, the other companies will expand as well with much more better working conditions, labor rights etc etc...

they tought they would be the only survival to the pandemic, now with Ryanair flying more than 1500 flights per day, keeping all their pilot fresh and current in their home bases and with a reasonable Union Agreements with BALPA, IALPA, SEPLA they are going to beat them in all aspects. Even Ryanair deal with this crisis in a civilized way.
also do not for get 737MAX coming back to service by the end of the year, and when Ryanair start to recruit again is gonna be a massive recruitment of experienced pilots.
Easyjet still in the game a slowly but firmly... and the vaccine almost ready.
Do not forget Volotea, Iberia Express, Vueling
And all the major Airlines and Asia markets.

so at the end we continue being pilots and we can decide about our future and lifes. All we need is to be patient. And do not take the first sh... that an operator gives you.

at the end this is a job and our training has been really expensive, do not sell yourself for 🥜...

is not just T&C. They must start to treat their pilots like humans and respect them. Is about labor rights, change of contract unilaterally (contracts is like toilet paper). Today I pay you 10 tomorrow 5, no negotiation, and maybe the day after tomorrow I fire you.
we are pilots, I personally cannot work with such pressure, fear of loosing my job... I mean is not a cuestión of just money 💰

Treatment of the workforce is a function of supply, demand and competition. Ryanair from 10 years ago (one of the few chances for a newbie at the cost of €30,000 and an absolute last resort for everyone else) bears no semblance to Ryanair today (seriously good company with good pay, fair treatment of personnel and enviable stability and security in every aspect). That was all thanks to the abundant alternatives after 2013, making pilot retention an issue. That was when they started changing course and actually making the job a desirable one which few pilots would leave as soon as any alternative crops up. The result of that positive transformation can be seen today.

Will Wizz air follow the same path if the first green shoots of recovery elsewhere make pilot retention an issue, potentially putting kibosh on the aggressive expansion plans? That remains to be seen. Probably in a couple of years we'll know more.

The answer is easy, you already typed it in. The companies (or their managements more explicitly, adding this to tear the EEU veil that is no longer appropriate to WZZ) will do whatever is necessary once necessary. And whatever they can once they can.

The more tricky question is how long will RYR keep the good act (taking your word for it, longer present users here speak audibly otherwise) they were for now forced to play?

Nevertheless, the answer becomes relevant only once job offers are advertised again.

Well said. I like this one. On the other hand, it's also a moment when everyone can see who's oriented long-term and treats their workforce as their team who will stay with them in good and bad times - and who's just taking the opportunity to grab some land, relying on the concept of people being easily replaceable. Time and again, we won't know the complete story until the COVID mess is over and better times come.

Smoke and mirrors, IMHO.

Assuming extremely e. g. TAP, Hop!, BulgariaAir and Finnair treat their pilots the best. How would an example Austrian pilot join them?

Notwithstanding the observed fact that the most adaptable survive, i. e. the most unscrupulous. Same people who squeeze the hardest will be the ones putting most caviar on the toast and having the brightest PR fireworks. And as long as promised base is close to home, people will line up for that.

Aviation is international, EASA licences are EU-wide, but personal pilots lives are still local for the majority.

The choice usually is the 1 local carrier, or 1 max 2 of the Cross-national LCC. Or change the domicile to wear the expat redshirt. Different options when divorced, true.

No indeed, it is not 'just' T&C, but it is also T&C. You will need to keep in mind that when airlines are skyrocketing again, they will ofcourse not speed-up the process of getting the T&Cs back to where it was. If it is gonna be back at where it was, no one will know now. But I have a bad feeling about this particular issue tho.

You can guess who wrote to that employees yesterday? You cannot play to be God when everybody is bad. Speak about expansion and open 10 bases with 25% less workforce... He would like to be O’Leary (I’m not a big fan) but O’Leary there is only 1. And if you look the strategy of Ryanair keeping all the pilots from the beginning fresh and current. Now they are prepare for when the business rump up. However WIZZ has no training capacity, they have lost the loyalty of their pilots.

Must be a hard fight for survival living in Monaco as it seems Varadi is doing.

Indeed. Former A7-AFF, MSN 1578. And it will be operating commercial cargo flights anytime it's not flying in part-fulfilment of a government mission. So, Wizz Cargo might as well take off someday soon.
