And is there any information of the aircraft reductions in the different bases? How many aircraft got chopped from where? This, in conjunction with the number of newly assigned aircraft in different bases, could more or less give a picture of the expected fleet in the short-term. Of course, the issue of aircraft utilisation still stands and, as long as utilisation will be reduced, a reduced number of crews will still suffice for the same number of aircraft.

Wizz are leaving Georgia.

Not confirmed by the company (yet), but has come from a source I trust. Expect official announcement today or tomorrow.

Georgia has extended its travel ban for another month and many remain sceptical of the restart because of the relatively limited healthcare capacity in the country. As was as I know, there were relatively few crews permanently based in Kutaisi, the base was mostly run by EU crews on a commuting roster. So, hopefully, whoever's affected by the base closure can be repositioned elsewhere on the network soon.

I hope so, but fear that non-EU CC may be difficult to place anywhere.........

I know about the ban, had a flight to Armenia cancelled last week and am booked on the Kutaisi route now. The new ban is getting a little close for comfort...... (The original trip was booked way back in February before everything was problematic).

I can't see a restart either, especially as some inbound ops have been cx too. Warsaw seems to have been increased from 3 flights to 4 though, so there may be a little hope. I doubt (stupidly) that Georgian Airways will attempt to pick up some of the slack, despite having a schedule for 4 less planes than they have, 5 on some days, especially as the GE to EU+Turkey/Moldova has an unstimulated 50+ destinations with 5000+ connecting pax (some would be competed).......

Edit: I mean longer term, not now

It's not like that they care at all... Just have a look at the pilots recently let go: plenty of them with 10+ years of service, LTC, TRI, fmr. base capt., etc.

My advice is to the crew were let go: take your training, and experience (pretty much the only positive aspect of WZZ) with you. Try to stay current and you will be a valuable asset to any operator with their heads screwed right on after a bounceback in the industry (hopefully). For those who still employed by them just wake the f*ck up and get together, try to form some kind of a representation, talk to your local labour councils, your MP, meet with local transport union reps, etc. You can do it. Don't let them bully you anymore.

Announcement? They will quietly make it disappear from the map not to disturb the victory comms.

+. I'm still trying to get into Wizz (but likely definitely not at the moment, secure employment is important to everyone right now, more so than a convenient base IMO). Waiting to hear what's happening from a KUT-based CC friend (I'm well connected in Georgia and 2 other bases, to the extent that we were waiting for a flight at IEV last summer to be greeted by a CC with my wife wondering who she is and how I know her). Likely won't post here for reasons of privacy.

To anyone working for Wizz, at whatever base you're working at, I wish you good luck and echo the above.

TBSC, looks like 7 inbound routes are remaining, along with route operated in W. A huge loss for Georgian tourism.

The only aforementioned city that's not a Wizz air base is Athens. All the rest have bases and could potentially fly to Kutaisi with their aircraft. As for Athens, combining the Kutaisi flight with a sector from Larnaca or Sofia into Athens could potentially work in terms of flight time limitations.

Even OTP/something else in Romania would work if I remember correctly. Isn't the LCA-EVN remaining operated by a Varna-based AC?

On the London front, I've noticed that some RIX-LTN will be operated on a W9 code with UK AC. I've also noticed that some flights have been renumbered, not sure how many (definitely LTN-KUN has).

KUT is in a deep freeze until May 2021, but I don't think it will reopen with 3 AC, as a lot of Georgians are saying now that they don't trust Wizz. I'm half expecting LOT to move in with some additional (at least seasonal) routes next year from Poland given their profile in the last few weeks, which will make the reopening even more difficult.

Edit: 17 of the vacated routes (given KUT's effective profile as an extension to TBS, even if unofficially) also have at least 10000 indirect pax on them on comparable connections. 3 are served by Georgian Airways and another 4 have other competition into TBS, so maybe if the situation recovers quite quickly, these may come back. I'm not sure it will be with Wizz though.

77k EUR on target earnings per year. Not sure about taxation, really depending on the specific base.

Wow that is terrible (unless that’s something like 1 week on / 3 weeks off.)

Indeed. Any info on the percentage was cut for both EZY and RYR?

With the above mentioned 77.000 EUR OTE at WZZ it looks like at least 30% cut for most and close to 50% for some senior captains (factoring in the loyalty bonus which was taken away back in March/April I believe).

77.000 EUR minus 30% till at least 31st March 2021.
so flying to the limit 4500 EUR net. Also bond deduction is around 500EUR per month.
so to the maths

It isn't though, as that'll be €77k + multiplier, about €800/month down for a UK-based Captain net, but the security of a job, still grossing in the region of £9k/month.

Easyjet - down about 20% overall based on my February roster (factoring in seniority bonuses etc). The February roster isn't likely to happen for a while though......(Plus those at the 3 affected bases, who are facing a 100% pay cut, factor that in too).

Dortmund multiplier - no idea. Vienna is 1.25, London is 1.5, expect it to be somewhere between the two. For reference, pre-Covid, an Easyjet German contract earned more than the UK by about 5%, so likely edging nearer the 1.5 mark.

You fail to mention that everyone on a local contract has a country multiplyer that offsets a good part of the taxes. For Romania it's x1.45, so about 111000 eur gross for a 1st year captain (down from the original 130000 eur) until April 2021.

Haven't seen the complete list of all countries, just the one for some of the new bases: Italy, Cypus and Albania: 1, 1.1 and 1.05 respectively.

And what's the deal with those many who got reshuffled to different bases in the past months? Does this automatically mean a new contract in the country where the new base is?
