If you don't mind having to arrange (or not arrange like most do) your own social security, go for it. Not worth it in my opinion.

True, my estimate was for SFO on local contract. Confair might be little bit higher if you like to play with taxes. But then I'd say dont risk it...

Sure, I don't want to risk too for have 200 euro more per month, I just want to have a better idea about what can I expect.

Hi all, I would really appreciate any help with choosing between a local Romanian contract with Wizz or going with Confair. I am from the UK and will be based in Bucharest. Also, if anyone has experience with being based in both Cluj and Bucharest OTP, I would really like to get an opinion as to the better base (Pro's/Con's)...

I am also interested in opinions on the best (or top choices) Wizz air bases? Not necessarily the biggest or busiest but in terms of quality of life, living / commuting, etc. How does Luton hold up against the rest?

Cons: Eastern management, bad reputation, second class airline, no labour rights,
Pros: A320 Type, thats all
If you can avoid it, just do it, just my two cents.

Sorry, but I disagree. All of this is highly subjective, without any proof. There are plenty of positives about Wizz, most people are happy, morale is high. Eastern management? What about it? Does eastern automatically equal bad? Second class - then what is RYR with their RYR Sun, third class?
No labour rights? I still get a legal, local employment contract, employer pays the taxes and social security for me. I do get LOL, holidays, stable roster, cheap/free tickets for myself and partner/friends, significant discount on gym membership and starting from January - the same for private health insurance. People are very nice (well, depends on where you end up, I hear Romania and Bulgaria might be slightly less friendly but still ok. Can't help with Riga, don't know anybody there).

Of course, there are cons (abundance of them) - just as in any other airline. You have to weigh what matters to you and what you can live with. But don't dismiss an airline because "it has bad reputation and comes from eastern europe so it must be bad".

so we had to work in two different airlines :P
after six years in this „caol mine” named „airline”, flying 500 sectors per year constantly on minimum rest/planned extension twice per week I gave up... and lets dont forget about permanent company pressure to accept rooster changes, off day flying and tension not to report fatigue whenever you are... FATIGUE!!!!

@Barry - you tell us all bul----it - sorry - are you managment? BTW, the romanian and bulgarian I appreciated much more, they were straight forward , not the same to say from some "western" guys where you had always to expect the stab frrom backwards, even when the very polite and "british" e.g. But time always takes care for revanche as you can see in todays political situations in these countries- and yes, I am FOR Brexit, better today then next year ! Please dont spread bul-.it around, specially young guys have the right of knowing the truth. BTW ryan air have union contracts in germany starting, what was the last action by wizz mngmt when in OTP 2014/15 they tried to start a LEGAL union ? Go to your bosses and ask them what they did with my former colleagues, go ask them how the the former CEO shouted , that you could hear it from OTP to the city center of Bucharest, and then fired them alll, please stop your bu...it spreading and think before you write.

We must indeed... 360 sectors and 800hrs this year for me (full time), extension maybe once per month, and I have never been pressured into flying on my off days (asked politely - yes, I have declined more often than accepted and that was it). But I've joined a little over a year ago and I heard a lot has changed since the culminating point of summer 2017. Everybody agrees that things have improved a lot.
I will say again - there is a lot to dislike in Wizz for sure (this outright fight against any unionization being the biggest one, as austrian71 says) but I'm happy, and 90% of people I fly with are happy too.

Brilliant Barry One year in the company - after my first year I was fine as well, belive me- you will feel it in your bones in a couple of years...
if calling you every day during your holidays, often happens at 4 o clock in the morning is fine for anybody (even if you will tell them “politely” to stop doing that) is not a constant pressure model, then what is? During my holodays I had to block the OCC numbers not to be interrupt by them all the time- and even that didnt stop them- they are using different numbers :P
Barry- give yourself time and gain experience in this ULCC model airline then start to make any statements... and yes in over a year a lot has changed- but its opposite your way of thinking- a lot of things are worse than before, thats why I left...

I'm just stating my experience, everyone can take from it what they want. Maybe it's not sustainable for years, I'm not planning to stay that long anyway (although tell that to all those 10+ years guys and gals in the company, they seem to make it work). But regarding this OCC calls and texts - I literally was asked around 5 times during this year if I could fly from my OFF, and always during day hours (usually by text) - do you consider that "pressure"?
Maybe life in this airline can be different depending on which base you get? I'm in one of the bigger ones, could be a factor.

Is Wizz Air still short of captains? I heard they lost a lot of their own people and seem to be hiring across the board. Whats the hiring situation looking like there at the moment?
