It’s all about the money/roster/leave and secondary benefits like pensions, loss of income/license insurance, medical insurance. And having these things in the contract does help so the company can’t just do what they want when they so require.
And that’s the entire issue, WZZ is unfortunately inadequate on all fronts as a long term employer. In a crisis market with a surplus of pilots it’s not an issue as people will take opportunities to gain experience on a medium jet. But with the market we are in now this is only going to end in disaster eventually.
I have worked there for close to a 4 year period and have flown with serious operators out of GDN. Don’t recognize the poor training statements by CAK.

So, who's currently in Wizz, and do you care to share your personal experience/thoughts in terms of living in your bases?
What is life like? Which bases would you rather prefer? How far will the salary get you?

stay away from wizz. The company is very organized and they follow SOP, high quality of training etc BUT the way they are treating other people is shocking.
The hungarians really have their heads stuck up their a$$. Thats the best way I can describe their attitude towards foreigners and I am very sure many agree with me.
If you are not hungarian or German you are worth nothing to them
I am happy they gave me my command but they are the worst airline I have ever worked for. I only lasted 6 months there. Really inhumane company.

Life is mostly good in many bases, with parties and people going out, it depends a lot on commuters/small base with small amount of ac. The smaller the base the more family like the crew is.
One of the few good things about CEE is that you have relatively low amount of expenses, so Wizz can get away with their relatively low salary. If you check your account at the end of the month, which is what matters, then you will actually have a quite good amount left, on the contrary to many other european outfits.(Beginner FOs are excluded)
I wouldnt say stay away, but think twice. At the moments its pilots market, and Wizz doesnt seem to get that, so they made a new payment scheme with close to no payrise. In some bases a pay cut.

I also absolutely can not confirm that you should "stay away from Wizz".
The Training is pretty good, the conditions are definitely not as bad as some People write here and in my opinion it´s a good place to develop.
Regarding the new salary scheme we will see how it works the following months.

Sorry if this is already buried somewhere in the long thread but does anyone have typical figures for the cost of comfortable local accommodation in the EEC that someone might secure on a commuting arrangement from the UK for the 6-1-6-8 arrangement? I'm assuming the cost of two pads and the relatively low salary might be the kicker.

The new pay „shame” system is a big disappointment, still way below market standards. The payslips that the company send to their pilots to compare the new/old salaries are full of mistakes and it is obvious that it was released in a huge hurry...

In terms of living...well it depends. Its all very subjective. Do you like any easter european cities? Can you fancy living there? Ive been in 3 of them and its a step back in terms of many things, in the end you get used to it, but I guess not forever.
Life is mostly good in many bases, with parties and people going out, it depends a lot on commuters/small base with small amount of ac. The smaller the base the more family like the crew is.
One of the few good things about CEE is that you have relatively low amount of expenses, so Wizz can get away with their relatively low salary. If you check your account at the end of the month, which is what matters, then you will actually have a quite good amount left, on the contrary to many other european outfits.(Beginner FOs are excluded)

Now, of course, as said before, look it as a means to an end; unless you get married with a local, your time in any of those bases will be temporary until you reach your goal, until then just keep building experience and have fun

Their salaries are low, including the new package....are still very low....whatever you are base. They are starting to open bases in Western Europe ( London, Viena ) and those salaries are marginal to live accordingly....

Just joined Wizz, I was already type rated + base training.
It took me 4 months to finish the training (Intro course, all the stuff on the ground, 4 SOP in sims + 40 sectors of line training).
I have to say, very competent people except those that are a bit older and that still instruct the old "russian" way.
Overall, i was quite positive about it. Of course the salary is a disaster and no doubt many people are / will be leaving very soon but for some people willing to build hours or to upgrade to commander, it still remains a very good opportunity.

Salary packages had changed, looks like the thing has improved for some bases, specially for captains...but for F/O the thing got worse. I must to say they offer a great opportunity for direct entry captains...but salaries they need to improve dramatically, summer is coming, more pilots leaving than joining and airplanes arriving...Its a good school to get hours and build up experience...but thats all...unfortunately.
