Good afternoon,

May I ask what the chances of a position in Portugal are as FO?

I used to have a 320 rating but not anymore so technically would be unrated.

Was thinking Portugal until command and then apply for a move back to blighty, perhaps EDI and part time command.....

Thats a dream, is it reasonable or realistic?

Any thoughts much appreciated,

SFFH

Being based in Portugal as an FO in realistic, the second part not so much.
EDI is going to take a long time to get as Cpt.

Thanks Dirk85,

What would be your best guess for the command slot in EDI?

It wildly depends on the expansion of the base, almost impossible to make a prediction.
Currently around 70 people on the command waiting list as fas as I understand.

Thank you Dirk85,

70 people in the line to get to EDI, wow that's the end of that dream then.

Thanks for the info....plan B

Also consider that among those 70 there are a few FOs already in the initial command process (that can last quite some time, years) and other Captains that might not even be interested to move there once they get the call.
Some people put themselves on a transfer list as a backup plan in case their base is downsized, but you can't really know, which makes any prediction very difficult.

Would you be able to elaborate on where this information was gleaned?

Do new hire unrated FO's still have to pay for their own type rating or can they be bonded now?

I think they still have to pay upfront, unless it has changed very recently.

It’s going to take time, but easyJet is expanding their training capability with a dozen of brand new sims plus many more in option, and the idea is to take in house the training also for initials in the future, and as a consequence also charge less the rating for new hires.

Not really, but high enough for me to post it here with a relatively high level of confidence.

I am in the hold pool for DEC. Just got advised they are looking for Porto DEC only at the moment. I called and was not given ANY information about other bases or position from recruiting. I am looking for a Lisbon position. Does anyone who actually works at EZ have any intel about base staffing or growth? Also, I was not able to get a detailed answer of how transfers to Lisbon work...can anyone comment if you can put in a transfer on day one and if there is a long list of people wanting to transfer?
Also, anyone from EZ in Porto who can tell me how likely it is to get 5 on/4 off or how it get assigned as well as part time in the winter?

I have a deadline to make a decision and I do not know anyone in the company to get the information from and unfortunately recruiting does not have the kind of information I need to make a decision. Please help anyone!

Assessments in April for TXL? That's mighty strange, as I was already told mid January by EZY recruitment before the start of the assessment during presentation that the base that I had applied for Berlin, was no longer available and neither were UK bases and Swiss contract. The only base, EZY recruitment told us, that was still available for DEC at that time was Portugal, can't remember if it was just OPO or also LIS. At the same time the recruitment website was changed and Berlin, UK and Swiss contract removed from DEC list, and only still open to apply for DEC Portugal base. They checked willingness for Portugal base on individual basis and I kindly declined at the time, and got put in the Talent Hold Pool as a result, due no more vacancies in Berlin.

Update from the Talent Pool received last week and again, only OPO available from beginning of 2020 and 1 week to decide... ANY info on OPO base would be highly appreciated.
1) Approximate salary after tax for a DEC with family
2) If it is possible to receive Non-Habitual Resident status as an easyJet Captain under the Portuguese tax laws, coming form outside EU (more than 10 years)
3) Living in Porto, as it seems to be a beautiful historic city
4) And why it is so unpopular that EZY can't seem to crew it, even after the revised salary package.....

Thanks in advance!

Easy policy OPO not available to British nationals, because of Brexit. Hence vacancies being carried.

Does that not contravene some sort of employment law? Last time I heard, UK is still part of the EU and the freedom of movement rules apply?

They are never going to officially admit it, not till Brexit, if ever.

In the meantime, from company communication, Direct Entry Captain requirements for S20 have not yet been fully accessed, they are working through internal command upgrade candidates so presently are unable to say precisely on S20 DEC requirements.

eJ allocate base placements based on a forecast or actual requirement in that base, for that rank. They don’t have to offer anyone any particular base and that’s part of the contract.

I experienced this first hand when I requested to do a season in PMI. I was told that I couldn’t apply because the planned start date was about a week after the original date for brexit, and they couldn’t plan a whole summer roster on the assumption I’d be allowed to move because if we’d had a hard brexit I may not have been able to then move to Spain, leaving them short. A kick in the teeth when brexit was delayed but that’s life, sadly.
