Corendon Airlines

Good day

Trust you are all safe..
Anybody have info on Corendon Airlines, Antalya base?
For starters I'm not sure how fair it is you have to pay for your own flight plus accommodation for the assessment..
Thanks

I agree, I too have been looking into applying but not so much after some of the things I've read on other threads and seeing how they will not pay for travel or accommodation during assessment is a problem for many, especially since many are out of a job and are trying to get back on our feet.

Local currency collapse and huge inflation - be very wary.

The ONLY turkish I would ever recommend is Sunexpress. They pay in Euro and are a very professional well run outfit, but like all Turkish companies, if they pay you, they own you.

I'd not deduct points for having to pay for your own flight and accommodation for the assessment.

BA and Aer Lingus don't even do that. Should they? I think so. They don't though and nobody seems to complain about it, so we shouldn't complain when other airlines follow suit.

I think there's a distinction between airlines such as BA that are hiring for resident permanent positions, and airlines that are hiring for expat positions; the latter generally requiring a ticket and hotac, though for sure, in the current market they can probably attract sufficient applicants without it.

Is it Corendon Turkey (CAI) or Corendon Europe (CXI)?
There are plans to operate with both AOC from Antalya this summer. CXI provides accommodation.
Nice company. Very relaxed, good atmosphere with the limitations of the charter operation. Almost no flying in winter and summer chaos.

Flew for CXI for one year. They saved many of us after covid but a maltese commuting contract (1 year renewable) is not for everyone. They doubled the salary last spring to hold enough pilots. Money is now acceptable for European standards and the amount of work. It's a very relaxed and friendly company. Most of the instructors are very good and experienced but the company structure has many flaws. Management is Turkish and communication (by whatsapp) could be challenging. Some nice bases if you don't mind living in a hotel room 2/3 of your life. 10 consecutive days off per month. Expect exotic assignments in the winter (like a month in Mumbai flying for Spicejet) with the corresponding 75$ extra per night out. Only one or two planes per base. Positioning across Europe with a several hours van or train ride after your duty happens often.
Again, Nice, friendly relaxed company. Not the worst year of my life but had to move on.

Hi,

does anyone have any info about Germany bases? What is the approximate net salary a month for Malta contract? I got the documents regarding the salary, which is counting with 75hrs a month, but I expect during the winter it is quite lower amount....

I fly for Corendon Europe (CXI). The german bases are DUS, CGN, HAJ and NUE. Be aware that if you want a german base you will most likely need to sign a german contract. This is a new thing in the company and causes some uncertainty. The net salary should be approx similar to the maltese contract. The main difference is however that you will need to arrange your own accomodation, you receive an allowance for this. In the maltese contract accomodation is arranged for you.

The salary consists of basic pay and flight pay. Taxation in Malta is very low (careful with tax rules in your home country). As an example I had one month with 0 hours and I had just over 3000EUR. I am a FO one the second payscale. Expect to fly about 40 hours in winter, 80+ in summer. Also in the winter we are doing wetlease ops in India which is quite lucrative.

Overall, the company has its flaws, every airline has them. Atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. Money is very decent. On the maltese contract everything is arranged and paid for. You can try to contact me on DM if you have specific questions.

Is Malta a reporting base, or a contract jurisdiction of convenience (like Switzerland for wizz).

Malta is the contract jurisdiction and the competent authority for the AOC.
The airline is run operationally from Antalya, Turkey.
