June traffic figure are out tomorrow and 2nd quarter update on the 11th so maybe something after then?
Nothing firm on the base front in the way that LGW was last Autumn, but yes all of the above have been mentioned, there does appear to be a subtle shift away from musical bases every 6 months at least in respect of flight deck with ALC & AGP set to remain same sized over winter and LPA/TFS rumoured smaller number of based units than first planned despite a much larger flying program than last winter.
Dream liner starts flying European routes tomorrow, that will be a pleasant surprise for some who thought they were going on a 738, don't know if the 787 is fitted with WiFi out of the box? It's normally fitted post delivery on the 738's

norwegian captain recruitment
guys anybody knows about norwegian recruitment? i applied 3 weeks ago and they didnt reply yes or no yet. does it take so long or they dont just reply if they are not interested?

Call or email Mr Bjorn Hansen. He is a great guy and will give you a clearer picture of who they need and when. I can only suggest that you make yourself available at short notice. If you put down on your application that you need to give your current employer 3 months notice, don't expect an invitation to interview anytime soon. That's just how it is, they need CPT and FO yesterday!

Thanks man, i really want to work for them and i can be available immediately. i have the email of this guy but because in their website is saying not to try to contact them by any way apart from the agency i thought that they may take it wrong. do you think it will be ok if i email him directly?

Yes, direct contact is the only way. I spoke with him on a Thursday and had interview the following Wednesday. Of course, this is my experience, and I cannot guarantee it for you too, but the nice thing about Norwegian is you can email or call people, and they are happy to talk to you. Good luck

Interview is a pleasant experience. They want to get to know you, see if you fit in with the company culture, which IMO is professional but relaxed, typically Scandinavian. Prior to interview they send you links to online personality test and Matrigma (visual, logical reasoning) test. You get the results at the interview. Once again, they want to see you are neither an axe-murdering recluse, nor an arrogant sky god 
If you're DEC, expect a sim check too. I heard a rumour they may start this for FO also, but the sims are working hard already, so this may be just a rumour. Apparently, failure rate for DEC in the sim check is 50%, which makes me look good but in all honesty it is pretty straight forward, you get all the info in advance to prepare, and those who fail usually do so based on CRM issues rather than their flying ability.
Fastidious Bob... All contract Captains earn the same, on average EUR 10,000 per month gross. Your agency will deduct social taxes for the country in which you are based (this is a whole other can of worms!) but if you're UK based, it's circa £500 per month, the rest is paid to you gross, EUR 9,500 and you sort your own taxes out with Mr HMRC on a self assessment basis. I would work on a monthly net of £6,000-£6,500. Basic salary is EUR 7,500 allowances/expenses of EUR 1,300 and flight pay of EUR 17 per hour, so a lean flying month has little impact on your take home

You have to be on contract for 2 years, after that you´ll be offered a core contract at your base, only as a F/O. Don´t know how long the waiting is for scandinavian bases atm.

Those that joined before March 2012 had to wait between 12 - 18 mths for a core position. This was as FO (regardless of your rank as a Contractor ) and was at one of the core bases (Norway /Sweden /Denmark ) & NOT where you are based as Contractor.
The 2 year thingy, is an agreement reached between NAS & the Union last year that allowed new bases to employ contractors for 2 years, at which stage the base would be assessed for viability & a permanent contract then offered if the base continued. This was subject to an extension to 3 years (which NAS are using in HEL, but have not notified the Union why ) & did not really specify if A- permanent is offered when the base is 2 yrs old, everyone subsequently employed there will be permanent, or B - anyone who has been employed there for 2 years will be made permanent. It seems the definition of "permanent" is not too sure either. . . ."permanent" on a (core) NAS contract/ "permanent" on A.N.Other contract I.E with NAS longhaul (who already have one of the based 738 on their AOC) or NAS Finland ( if they invent it) or ARPI/PARC/Confair.
NAS have found a mechanism to allow Contract Capts to continue on "leave of absence" from their permanent FO position as Contract Capts at one of the (non- Scandinavian ) contract bases, initially for 6mths, but recently extended another 6 (normally this is for max 2 years. . but) Some of these Capts on LOA have also been given a "temporary Command" at CPH for a couple of months so the permanent guys can take leave during school holidays.
Some newly employed Contract FO's were given a 6mth "K Area" ( I.E Scandinavia ) Summer contract, and will resume as Contract FO's at a contract base from Nov.
Recently promoted Core FO's have been given upgrade on condition that they take leave of absence as Contract Capt for 6 ? 12 ? mths. They will be displacing contractors at mainland Spanish bases, their "seniority" has given them the opportunity to outbid Contractors, who are displaced to "commuting-unfriendly" Canaries.
At a recent base meeting in HEL Bjorn Kjos stated "no more core positions", there is a new rumour however of 30 new core vacancies soon (ish).
Last 2 years or so has seen the creation of around 300 + Contract positions & around 80 core positions.
To see where you will end up in the future if you join now . . do the Maths.
Current base rumours are BCN/MAD/PMI . . . . Berlin & Roma rumours seem to have gone off the boil. LGW rumoured to expand fast & further.
