I heared that they increased the salary by around 600€ from the 1st of January on.
As far as I know initially all new pilots will be based in Ankara, but they can apply for a base change and some of them got Istanbul after 3 months in Ankara...

SXS

I will have been getting my CPL after a few months. I will try to get hired by SXS. Can you compare and contrast two interview books:
Ace technical interview,
Airline Pilot Interviews by Irv Jasinski

Which one better?

Additionally last news for SXS Turkey: They returned their 10 optional Max to firm orders, They get their new b737 b4 one or two days. they get hired FOs from THY in a temporary situation.

I can just say that ACE is crap, full of faults.

Airline pilot interviews, the same. I have both of them. Both did not help me to get a job(and I had/have plenty of jobs).

Why? Ace is simply outdated im my opinion, there are much better resources nowadays to get tech quiz questions and answers.

The other one is tailored to the american market(glad to never had to get a major job over there after I had a read through this book). Useless for Europe and the middle east, might help for some asian companies as they have most likely the same sad ideas about how their new employee has to be. If you read Jasinkis book you know what I mean.

Better option which helped me much more: Pick your airline, then try to get PM advice here over this forum. Other good source is for instance latestpilotsjobs.com(there are others, usually much more expensive), they have a very good tech(+ other) database that you have to pay for. But it is worth its money(better then both books).

I think there is a database for SXS(I applied once for them, but actually never went for the interview, Turkey is not for me). On top they will send you a link for Mollymawk psych testing(free) where you can train for a bit to be prepared for their "german style box tests" which proofs that you are a top pilot . So there is actual a good chance that you pass this interview with a bit of preparation.
One of my former collegues flies with them(Capt) seems to be happy.

Hope that helped....

KongFlyer, not so hard. I met someone who succeeded in the process while not having graduated from University. Only secondary school.

Captain.weird, that sounds great. The last thing I would want is to pass everything and complete the type rating, and then to have it all ripped away on the grounds of no uni degree.. Is it possible for you to get me in touch with the person who got in?

You might be able to get in, but becoming captain without an university degree is fairly difficult in Turkey.

@KongFlyer, no. I don't have any contact details of him.

@Safelife, I don't think so (anymore). Just one to two years ago that was indeed the case. But I know some guys who are a captain now w/out an uni degree in Turkey. When there is a need, there will always be some solutions ;-) .

Hi Guys,

- Which base could you expect for a DEC position?
- How many days at home can you expect for a non commuting position?
- What is the rent price of a nice apartment/house?
- Is raw data flying allowed (without FDs)?

Thank you and safe flights.

According to the ex -SXS guys here:

Majority of DEC positions will be Ankara, slim chance of SAW, no chance of Antalya or Izmir.

Non- commuting roster allows 2 double offs per month, these cannot be joined to give 4 days off. In low season you may request a triple off. In reality it is not possible to commute on non-commute contract.

Apartments range from about 2500 TL a month but good area expect 3500.

They fly 737-800 not C150 so Raw Data flying is not encouraged. All arrivals at ESB and SAW are procedural, very few visual approaches these days.

Expect a mix of Open duties, earlier and lates. In high season maybe 3 night flights a month. Open duty is min rest at hotel, maybe just 2/ 3 hrs if lucky

you ARE encouraged to fly Raw Data!! For sure you can not expect a lot of visual approaches into ESB or SAW but at the Anadolian destinations you are welcome to fly a visual approach or a Raw Data ILS or VOR approach as long as you are stabilized at 1000ft!

I can confirm this.
There are no rules or expectations on how to fly the aircraft whatsoever at SunExpress. Except for the SOPs of course, you are free to chose any MCP mode or simply handfly it as much as you like.
Some airports, like the Anadolian ones (Trabzon, Kayseri, Elazig, Van, Diyarbakir) will let you fly visuals.
