THY Level 6 not recognised/accepted
Turkish Airlines have a requirement for company pilots to do an English Language test to assess the level of training if any for their Pilots to take in preparation of the English Proficiency test.
Along with many others, I am level 6 which as I'm sure you're aware means "Expert- Valid for LIFE"
However, THY state they do not accept our Level 6 tests, and we have to do their company test. This is done in our own time of course.
Be interested to hear any comments regarding this strange non acceptance of an ICAO Level 6 result?

Put it this way, many THY pilots would never be able to achieve ICAO Level 6 in their lifetime. THY Level 6 is probably some hybrid Anglo-Turk which can be heard frequently across the skies of Europe!
THY Level 6
Hmmm.
apparently ICAO DOC9835 does not either translate well into Turkic or Hangul, or it is just disregarded as being another bit of external interference in the "ways of doing business" by pesky Yabancies/Weikuk-in's that exist in both regions (and many others as well...).
Would think that a level 4 or greater qualification achieved in THY or in Korea has absolutely no moral merit. I am reminded of a Chinese individual who was educated in english as an instructional language and was both fluent and erudite in that language, but was "given" a TELP LVL 4 while other F5/F16 pukes who couldn't pronounce their own name were given 4's and 5's (and the script/answers...).
