TAM raising their minimums!!??

I just got off the TAM wesite and could not even find a posting for A320 FOs anymore. Then I went on Pilotcareercentre.com and its verifying TAM with new minimums of 1000TT with a degree and 1500TT without. I mean, literaly i was on the site two days ago and it was 800TT. What the hec!? Are they even hiring anymore?? Does this mean what I think it means?? Is Brazil catching up and finally getting more applicants that they can handle? What do you guys out there think? Eventually Brazil will be asking for US type minimums? Im curious because I am just starting the process of converting to ANAC and Im taking my time with it because I am currently living in Florida. I am going to dot all my (Is) and cross all my (Ts) here at the Brazilian cinsulate in Miami and try to get as much done here before I head out to Brazil to finish the rest. I am woried that the longer I wait, the more chance of TAM raising their minimums to beyond my experience!

The newest information I have is that TAM does interview's every monday and tuesday and a new F/O's group starts employment every 17th of the month. The latest started last tuesday with 25 pilots.
About the hours logged outside Brazil, as i told you on the other topic, i need to check with my friend to see what exactly happened but he told that when the recruiter checked his logbook and noticed it was all logged in U.S as a CFI he said he should fix his logbook in a wall as a decoration because it was useless for them.

Thanks for the info on the salary. Idk if it has changed recently because I cant seem to get any info off of TAMs website. I didnt know TAM was recruiting that hard!! How long do you think that will last?? 25 month sounds high!

your only bet is tam? there are other companies hiring FOs here, specially AD has been keen to hire guys who been abroad, allthough you can expect salary to be a third of JJ... Since the anouncement of G3 taking over WH the pilot demand has dropped, specially for inexperienced or non- RBAC 121/135.

Forgive the ignorance, G3?? WH?? AD?? What company is that? Im not familiar with the Brasilian companies or laws, thats why I ask. Are you saying that the hiring over all in Brasil will slow down or stop soon? Im curious if time is of the essence.

Brazilian airlines are still hiring and will continue doing it for some time, next year will be as good as this one or even better, because of the world cup and olympics games every airline are buying new planes. Aviation here's growing around 17%/20% a year. On recente past our airlines had a bad mentality to invest only in big centers as são paulo and Rio, but thing's are changing and new routes are being opened, specially by Azul and Trip. At this particular moment almost every airline is hiring but because of Webjet's purchase by Gol I believe they will slow down a bit until all the merge proccess finishes, but they are definetely going to continue hiring. Just for an example, a friend of mine was living in London and when he finished his CFI course he came to brazil to convert his license and try to find a job, right after his conversion was done he found a job to fly a brand new Learjet 40XR.

Hey Varig, thanks for the info. Im starting the conversion process this week with the Brazilian consulate in Miami. It will take a little while to get everything ready but I will be working on it. I think my school papers will take the longest because Miami wont do it considering I went to school in New York. I guess it has to be done in the same jurisdiction. Well, once evrything is done here in the US, I will plan a trip to Brasil to do rest there. I was curious about the hiring because I know this will be at least a 6 month process for me due to family and current employment. I just didn't want to miss the window of hiring. I heard Brasil is trying to pass a law that will aloow ex-pats? How do you think that will effect hiring??

about hiring, i dont think you need to worry now because there isnt any plans to stop that in mid-terms. i believe myself most airlines will keep hiring strong in the next 3 years, unless something happens like a merge or some unknow crisis. all airlines have massive orders for new aircrafts, TAM, GOL, TRIP, AZUL, Avianca and every time we hear rumours about a new airline, another one will start operations in september, Mais linhas aéreas, they are starting with 2 Fokker-100.
The thing about opening market for expats is something thats still being discussed among some politicians. A congressman created a project to do many modifications in the brazilian aviaiton laws that is quite outdated and among those modifications he proposed an opening for expats pilots, specially helicopter off-shore pilots, but its something that will take some time, IF this happens, that i dont believe it will, may take in my opinion at least 2 or 3 years to vigorate, so no worries here as well.

Okay! I am looking foward to getting all this done. I did have a minor set back. I went to the Brasilian consulate here in Miami and updated all my paperwork (CPF, military, titulo de eleitor etc.). Well, my titulo will only be ready in 6 months!
I had no idea that it would take that long! Well, I guess I have no choice but to wait. Meanwhile, I am in the process of getting all me HS and college stuff translated as well.

Great, I cant help you too much about all these buroucratic stuff of convalidation and documents but if you need infos about aviation in brazil you can ask nad ill try to help.
btw, i talked to that friend of mine who had his hours denied by Tam and he explained that the reason for it to be denied was because TAM requires these hours logged in U.S to be validated by FAA and ANAC as well, if youre able to do that it can be accepted by them

I see. I will check with the FSDO here to see how I can validate all my time before I go to Brasil. I,m hoping that something can be done because ALL my flight time is here in the US. Do you know if your comany or the others like Gol, Azul, Trip etc are the same way? Do they recognized flight time from the US?? If you find out, let me know. Im curious if this is just a TAM thing or everywhere in Brasil.

From what ive heard only Tam requests that, maybe Gol too, but i dont believe so
Avianca does not require that because as i said, half of my experience where logged outside Brasil and they didnt complaim about it. But if these hours are not validated you may have problems in the future to use these hours to reach the minimums to get your ATPL.

I got hired at TAM in 2005 and all of my hours were in the US. ANAC didn't accept them but TAM had no problem accepting them. I don't know if it has changed or not.

TAM RECRUTMENT
Hi the TAM is hiring for sure but up to few months ago they require the brasilian citizen or if you are naturilazed , now I heard the they are looking for a foreign pilot as well but as you know it' s only a voice, let me know if you 've got something more.

a stupid question but...
I am confused but.........why does having a uni degree reduce the number of hours? how can an engineering degree for example equate to 400 hours flying experience?
