The slump in transatlantic bookings from accross the pond cant be helping.
Suspect delayed 787 deliveries and accelerated retirement of the 747 wil be the next move.
Seen it all before, vis a vie gulf war, 911, SARS...

Cutting reqruitment

Seems shortsighted. A friend of mine has five trips, 2 sim days and 2 office days this month. All two pilot ops.

High sickness/fatigue rate at moment 330/340 fleet. Rostering ringing around to cover trips.
Surprising if recruitment on hold.

Anyone have updates? Surprised they went for the A350 when an airline I know has had issues with high fuel burns etc.

Does anyone have any idea of when/if they may open up recruitment again soon, and will it be for Boeing or Airbus rated?

Thanks

Sure they enjoy high fuel burns, that's why they went for the 340-600

787 flies fine by the way, don't believe the hype.

If you're interested recruitment is happening this winter apparently.
Seems to be for 330 and 747 only. Not sure about numbers though.
Good luck.

Our recruitment window will be opening up again today as we will be creating more First Officer opportunities in 2017. We appreciate that in the time that has passed, some of you have pursued other opportunities and some of your experience could have possibly changed. Since our last advert, our requirements have also changed and are somewhat more specific so our current adverts will reflect these changes. Our requirements now are specifically for:

• First Officers who are 737/757/767/777 rated, with a minimum experience of 2,500 hours total flying time and 500 hours on type and who have flown the aircraft within the last 6 months. You would then undertake a type rating onto our 747 aircraft.
• First Officers who are 747-400 rated, with a minimum experience of 2,500 hours total flying time and 500 hours on type, and who have flown the aircraft within the last 6 months
• First Officers who are A320/321 rated with a minimum experience of 2,500 hours total flying time and 500 hours on type, who have flown the aircraft within the last six months. You would then undertake an A330 CCQ course with us.
• First Officers who are A330 rated, with a minimum experience of 2,500 hours total flying time and 500 hours on type, and who have flown the aircraft within the last six months.
Taking all of the above into consideration, if you are still interested in working with us at Virgin Atlantic, please follow one of the links below to resubmit your application.

Evening Virgin People.

Can anyone tell me the current take home pay for a new copilot and what's the likelihood of getting a Manchester base on the 330.

I'm type rated on the 330 and live Up North. I'm very interested in Virgin, great people and a great airline.

Feel free to message me.

I'd be interested in take home and typical rosters, hear the 330 is the fleet to avoid in Virgin?

It's whatever a gross of £69100 plus £600 - £700 pm in allowances works out as.

As far as the A330 being the fleet to avoid? This year maybe but with the arrival of the A350 which will be mixed fleet who knows?? I honestly wish I did!!

Airbus currently mixed 330/340 - all pilots are mixed fleet. 350 replaces the 340 so mixed fleet will change to 330/350 for all - bit of a changeover period I guess but I suppose 12 months max maybe. Yes 330 guys are busy at the mo but in days of old airbus had the best routes and no doubt things may swing that way again/or back/or forth/or somewhere who knows

All I know is I like working there.

The starting salary for year 1 F/Os is amazing, it must be the highest paid flying job in the UK? Not sure I ever realised that fact.

Good luck to all applying.

So Mr Broombastick what do you think BA pay a year one FO with 6000 hours type rated coming from say Monarch ? What do you think Easy pay ? Count the stripes for the latter - you only need one finger. If above is right £75k is way way higher.

I was being serious! Tell me where these F/Os are coming from who will be taking a pay cut, because I need their job! Sure it will be a pay cut if you are a captain but that's not a fair comparison. I was simply stating that I dont think any other airline in the UK offers such a high starting salary and that includes BA long haul, 75k might not be enough for you but I happen to think its quite a lot of money. Let's see if they struggle to get applications. The fact you believe after 3 years of work you are suddenly entitled to a six figure salary says a lot about the industry today. It also goes a long way to explain why we will get zero respect or sympathy from the general public when we complain about terms and fatigue!
