I’m also waiting on an interview and a friend of mine messaged painting a bleak picture of the future for VS and mentioned possible redundancies?! I don’t suppose anyone inside VS is able to comment on whether these claims are myth or hold some substance?

Disproportionate hard work for those A340 qualified apparently. 3 East Coast and 2 West Coast in a month for example, combined with continual roster instability, mainly due ongoing B787 woes. 900 hours or not, that level of work cannot be sustained. Much easier if you can avoid an 340 Course. Less work for those only A330 qualified, and plenty of time in the Carribean. (Although a common Type Rating, many pilots are not dual qualified)

Virgin Atlantic Interview

Hi everyone,

Just wondering what the process is for a Virgin Atlantic Interview Direct Entry. Has anyone been in the recent recruitment rounds? What kind of questions came up? I know this has been asked in the last few years, but just wondering if there are any more recent interview questions.

Thanks in advance.

Is there any update to VS recruiting? I see 787 recruiting was opened up for a few days recently. Are there any plans to open up Airbus again? Thanks.

Hi Guys !
been in the background for a while reading the various threads of BA v Virgin , I’m currently in BA on the 787 and tbh I can’t stand it . Does anyone know when Virgin will open up 787 recruitment? Also I know that quite a few have gone BA to Virgin so is there anyone willing to give an honest opinion . Feel free to PM if you don’t want to go public
cheers boys and gals

Unfortunately for me that is the case , I’m just fed up with BAs icy corporate atmosphere and the fact that I have never felt more of a number in a company . It’s still a great place to work etc.... but it’s just not for me and I’m willing to give up 6 years seniority for it

Was it ever true that VS hired you on the basis of what squadron you came from? Seems a bit far fetched

All BA pilots have access to who’s left/leaving the company. There aren’t many at all and mostly those who do are retirements. Those who protest about BA and all those who are leaving are exaggerating and only kidding themselves.

I hear VS are looking for 787 DEPs so perhaps in a few months hundreds upon hundreds of people will flock to pastures new.

I don’t know about numbers of others, but I am a lurker and seriously considering leaving BA. For similar reasons to risky biz. Some other reasons though. I’ve regretted my decision to join. I’m not personally considering vs myself.

like a lot of things in life, it’s personal. One mans poison..

You don’t have to be particularly good to get into VA. However, as always, its who you know. Squadron leader or Ex ‘ Arrows? Yep you can come & have a jolly good time ‘ ole chap.
Think you’re a bit confused old girl but it’s nothing of the sort at VAA. Ex-military without a rating (330 usually) or some Boeing heavy jet time you won’t even get a look in, regardless of rank, squadron or any other military affiliation you care to pluck out of your backside. There is no secret handshake or nudge-nudge-wink-wink to get past the VAA recruitment machine. The type rating is the only king here - which is sad because we pass over some very talented (but unrated) people (civil AND military) in favour of some perhaps markedly less suitable people who just happen to have a rating.

As for standards, anything you seek to attain is down to you. If mediocre is the standard you set yourself then crack on; just do it safely. Ideally though the recruitment system would weed out The Seekers of Medocrity at the CV sifting stage. Sadly that isn’t always the case.

Anyway, you go careful with the condiments you’re having with those chips of yours; they seem to be making you salty....

I always knew that VS heavily recruited ex forces guys but I believe that was a few years ago .
If anyone who works at virgin could give an honest opinion about the work life balance and security (which I assume tied in with Delta isn’t a worry anymore) that would be marvellous!
Regards

I know of 5 people in Ba with applications in with VS - there are almost certainly more - I know of one guy came from Ryanair for LH at BA and went back to Ryanair-- Easy are also / have also taken some. I may be one of them very soon for all the reasons stated above.
